ZOLL’S NEW X SERIES DEBUTS AT EMS WORLD EXPO 2012

Integrated Advanced CPR Technologies and Data Management Solutions on Display

October 30, 2012—CHELMSFORD, MASS.—ZOLL® Medical Corporation, a manufacturer of medical devices and related software solutions, will showcase the new ZOLL X Series™ Monitor/Defibrillator and demonstrate the company’s portfolio of integrated CPR technologies and data management solutions in Booths #1018 and #431 at EMS World Expo October 31–November 2 in New Orleans.

Weighing less than 12 pounds (6 kilograms), the X Series is about half the size and half the weight of competitive full-featured monitor/defibrillators, yet much more powerful and built to the most rigorous standards for ruggedness. This monitor/defibrillator combines the clinically superior therapeutic capabilities of ZOLL defibrillation, pacing, and real-time CPR feedback with advanced monitoring parameters.

“We believe the X Series is a game changer for ZOLL in the EMS market. We provide size and weight advantages that ZOLL is known for without compromising features or functionality,” said Jonathan A. Rennert, President of ZOLL. “The X Series has every advanced monitoring and communication capability required by EMS providers and critical care transport operations.”

ZOLL is hosting a special Play Zone in Booth #431 where attendees will be able to obtain hands-on experience with the X Series, RescueNet® 12-Lead, and the AutoPulse®. The Play Zone is staffed by paramedics to help teach pit crew techniques. Visitors will have the opportunity to compete in an AutoPulse deployment. Winners will receive a $500 scholarship to attend EMS World Expo.

Advanced Technologies for High-Quality CPR, Minimizing Interruptions in Chest Compressions

Key among ZOLL’s groundbreaking CPR technology is the AutoPulse Non-invasive Cardiac Support Pump with its load-distributing LifeBand® that delivers unprecedented circulation by squeezing the entire chest to improve blood flow to a patient’s heart and brain during sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). The AutoPulse delivers high-quality, uninterrupted CPR chest compressions to maintain myocardial and cerebral perfusion.

This year, ZOLL is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Real CPR Help®. This real-time CPR feedback technology is incorporated into virtually all ZOLL defibrillators, including the AED Plus®, the AED Pro®, the E Series®, the X Series, and PocketCPR®.

ZOLL’s X Series and E Series Monitor/Defibrillators with their advanced capabilities for EMS along with the AED Pro also offer See-Thru CPR®, a breakthrough technology that filters out CPR artifact from the ECG to reduce durations of CPR interruptions. PocketCPR for the iPhone® is the first training app to provide CPR training and practice using the 2010 American Heart Association CPR Guidelines

A Broad Range of RescueNet Data Management Solutions

The RescueNet Suite for EMS and Fire comprises the only fully integrated information management system that has the ability to improve clinical and operational performance by collecting and analyzing data across EMS or Fire organizations, including medical device data. The management suite is fully integrated with ZOLL’s resuscitation portfolio.

A key addition to the RescueNet Suite is RescueNet 12-Lead, the first web browser-based system that allows access from any computing device with Internet capability. No dedicated hardware or proprietary software is required. RescueNet 12-Lead also accepts transmissions from multiple monitor/defibrillators at no additional cost to EMS agencies. RescueNet 12-Lead is available at no cost for both EMS organizations and hospitals from ZOLL.

Other RescueNet highlights include:

  • easyPCR™, an iPhone app that allows paramedics and rescuers to capture critical patient care data right from their iPhone or iPad;
  • RescueNet @Work, a software application designed to enable EMS agencies to evaluate the status of their vehicles quickly and easily from any Internet-connected device;
  • RescueNet® Link, a unique system that provides seamless information sharing of critical, pre-hospital information from the ZOLL E Series Monitor/Defibrillator, RescueNet ePCR, and RescueNet Navigator mobile data computer so that hospitals know pertinent patient vitals and data prior to the patient’s arrival for improved patient outcomes;
  • RescueNet Road Safety, a driving safety system for emergency vehicles that provides real-time feedback to reduce aggressive driving and improve safety for EMS personnel, onboard patients, and the public-at-large.

ZOLL’s Roster of Activities

  • Attendees who participate in the CPR Challenge receive a USB wristband. An AED Plus will be awarded to the person achieving the best depth and rate of chest compressions during the show to donate to a charity of their choice.
  • Attendees who complete demonstrations at all ZOLL’s workstations will receive an emergency road kit.

Lunch and Learn: “Changing Your Organization’s Resuscitation Mind-Set”

Through the utilization of evidence-based procedures and technology, more and more EMS agencies are embracing high-quality CPR and view ventricular fibrillation as a survivable condition. Two experienced EMS providers and instructors from the Mesa Fire/Medical Department, EMS Captain John Tobin and Engineer, EMT Scott Crawford, discuss how your organizations can make the culture shift from "I can't believe we saved him!" to “I can't believe we didn't save him!" and greatly improve survival from sudden cardiac arrest. The session will be held Thursday, Nov. 1 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. in Room #243.
