ZOLL TO DEMONSTRATE ADVANCED RESUSCITATION AND TEMPERATURE MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY AT THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF CRITICAL CARE NURSES MEETING

May 21, 2012—CHELMSFORD, MASS.—ZOLL® Medical Corporation, a manufacturer of medical devices and related software solutions, announced today that it will display its fully integrated portfolio of resuscitation devices, temperature management technology, and data management solutions that address each link in the Chain of Survival in Booth #2139 May 22-24 at the Association of Critical Care Nurses National Teaching Institute (NTI) & Critical Care Exposition in Orlando. ZOLL’s technology is strongly aligned with the AHA Guidelines’ emphasis on high-quality CPR and minimizing interruptions in chest compressions.

Improving CPR quality has been an ongoing commitment of ZOLL’s since 2002, when it was the first to introduce real-time CPR feedback in its AED Plus®. Today, all ZOLL defibrillators, from ALS to AEDs, feature Real CPR Help® audio and visual feedback for the correct depth and rate, and tracking of idle time. CPR performance data is recorded and downloadable to provide for post-resuscitation debriefing.

ZOLL’s R Series® Code-Ready® Defibrillators are designed to extend “Simple, Smart and Ready” defibrillation to every hospital department through advanced, cost-effective solutions for resuscitation. The original R Series ALS, and the newer R Series Plus, which has both AED and ALS capabilities at the touch of a button, offer See-Thru CPR®, a breakthrough technology that filters out CPR artifact from the ECG to reduce CPR interruptions.

The AutoPulse® is an automated, portable chest compression device with an easy-to-use, load-distributing LifeBand® that squeezes the entire chest, improving blood flow to the heart and brain during sudden cardiac arrest. The AutoPulse delivers high-quality, uninterrupted CPR chest compressions to maintain myocardial and cerebral perfusion even when moving patients, traveling in an ambulance or while a patient is undergoing emergency cathertization for PCI. Additionally, it offers the benefit of freeing up clinicians to focus on other life-saving interventions.

Making its debut at NTI is the new X Series™ Monitor/Defibrillator. The X Series is about half the size and half the weight of competitive full-featured monitor/defibrillators, yet much more powerful. Weighing less than 12 pounds (6 kilograms), the X Series is compact without compromise in capability, performance, and display size. This monitor/defibrillator combines the clinically superior therapeutic capabilities of ZOLL defibrillation, pacing, and CPR assistance with advanced monitoring parameters. The X Series has every advanced monitoring and communication capability required for critical care transport.

Additional product highlights in ZOLL’s integrated portfolio include:

  • Intravascular Temperature Management (IVTM®) technology offers health care providers the power and control they need to rapidly, safely, and effectively manage the core body temperature of critically ill or surgical patients. The Thermogard XP® delivers accurate, easy-to-use and cost-effective control for both cooling and warming applications.
  • The LifeVest® Wearable Defibrillator is worn by patients at risk for sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), providing protection during their changing condition and while permanent SCA risk has not been established. The LifeVest continuously monitors the patient’s heart and, if a life-threatening heart rhythm is detected, the device delivers a treatment shock to restore normal heart rhythm. The LifeVest is lightweight and easy to wear, and allows a patient’s physician time to assess his or her long-term arrhythmic risk and make appropriate plans.
  • CodeNet® is the first software system that allows hospital teams to better document, manage, and review cardiac arrest event and resuscitation information. CodeNet brings new improvements and efficiencies in data capture, event time synchronization, and case and aggregate reporting. It is the only system that time stamps logged events and synchronizes these times with defibrillator data, providing clinicians with a complete and accurate timeline of an entire cardiac arrest event.
  • PocketCPR® for the iPhone® and the Droid® is a training app to provide CPR training and practice using the AHA CPR Guidelines.

ZOLL Sponsors Six Education Sessions in Booth 2139

In keeping with the company’s vision to help improve resuscitation and increase survival rates, ZOLL will offer six one-hour education sessions conducted by leading nursing instructors at scheduled times during exhibit hours. Session topics will include “Capnography: The New Vital Sign,” “The First 48: The Initial Two Days of Life After Cardiac Arrest Resuscitation,” “The ‘ART’ of Resuscitation,” “Fire and Ice: Why Temperature Matters,” “Novel Strategies for Improving CPR Quality in Critical Care Environments,” and “Hot Topic, Cool Therapy—More Than Just Therapeutic Hypothermia.”
