The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the design and development of hardware and embedded software components for an electromechanical medical product used during cardiac resuscitation.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on testing, troubleshooting and implementation for design improvements at a system level
  • Support integrated hardware and embedded software (C#) on existing product
  • Write verification test plans, protocols, and test reports
  • Work closely with cross-functional team to develop first in class medical device
  • Guide the work efforts of junior engineers, technicians, and OEM vendors
  • Ensure that the product developed complies with ZOLL SOPs; including requirements definition, architecture, design, implementation, debugging, and testing
  • Develop hardware and embedded software solutions for next generation device

Qualifications

Skill Requirements:

  • Background in digital design and analog sensor signal processing
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues; determine the root cause, develop solutions, verify functionality, and implement design changes
  • C#, C or C++ required (at least one)
  • Embedded C Microsoft Development Environment required
  • Microcontroller experience
  • Knowledge of real-time embedded software development and execution
  • Attention to detail, good organization skills, able to make system level tradeoffs
  • PCB layout and circuit design
  • Self-sufficiency to creatively solve technical issues and execute solutions independently
  • Experience working with electro-mechanical systems and embedded software
  • Knowledge and experience working with international safety and operating standards for medical devices, e.g. EN 60601, UL2601, etc.
  • Experience documenting design changes and improvements via test protocols and reports
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills

 

Education/Training/Experience Requirements:

 

  • Minimum of 5 years related experience
  • BS required in electrical engineering or related field
  • C#, C or C++ required (at least one)
  • Microsoft Development Environment experience
  • Microcontroller experience
  • Analog Circuits: experience with Signal Conditioning, Active Filters, Electrical Isolation helpful
  • Medical product development experience a plus
  • Motor and electromechanical device design and development a plus
  • Battery operated instruments, power management circuits a plus
