Sr. Software Engineer

Job Summary:

As a senior software engineer on our leading-edge advanced development team, the successful candidate will be responsible for prototyping and developing algorithms for physiological measurement and monitoring utilizing life-saving technologies.  The candidate will be responsible for performing work within the advanced development team and with cross-functional team members in scientific and clinical affairs, product development, regulatory, quality, and manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilizing state-of-the art signal processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI), develop high quality physiologic algorithms suitable for evaluation of new technologies and for final products
  • Translate customer and system requirements into preliminary software requirements
  • Transition algorithms to product development for commercialization
  • Ensure successful algorithm integration into final product device software or hardware subsystems
  • Develop and review software verification test plans and protocols for algorithms developed by the advanced development team
  • Remain current in machine learning and physiologic signal processing trends and technologies through activities such as self-study, webinars, seminars, user group meetings and conferences
  • Identify technical challenges and risks, and recommend and implement solutions
  • Follow standard operating procedures and software engineering best practices including documentation of algorithm software designs and source code
  • Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive team environment that creates high quality solutions

Skill Requirements:

  • In-depth technical knowledge and experience in machine learning algorithms
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB including the signal processing and machine learning toolboxes
  • Knowledge and experience with one or more programming languages such as C, C++, or Python
  • Familiarity with embedded system programming and/or real-time operating systems (RTOS)
  • Demonstrated innovativeness through solutions in software development, algorithm creation, code development, and/or related biomedical engineering problems
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude and strengths in teamwork, logic, initiative, and innovation
  • Strong critical thinking with effective problem-solving skills in solving new, unique, and deep technical challenges
  • Ability to foresee challenges and provide alternative solutions and make strong recommendations with engineering-based rationales
  • Ability to prioritize and work on more than one project concurrently
  • Holds self accountable for delivering on commitments

Education and Experience:

  • MS degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering including specialization in AI and machine learning; PhD degree preferred
  • Experience developing solutions utilizing machine learning, deep learning, predictive analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI)
  • Experience developing algorithms to measure and/or interpret patient vital signs (e.g., electrocardiogram (ECG), heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, end-tidal CO2, etc.) desirable
  • Experience working in an environment under medical device design controls
