Human Resources Generalist

Location: Deerfield, WI

Job Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist supports and enhances the corporate culture while providing HR guidance and support to the company. Provides support in areas such as employee relations, talent development, leave administration, performance management, retention, disciplinary actions and compensation administration. 



  • At the direction of HR management supports with aspects of employee relations including investigations, documentation and problem solving.
  • Interprets HR policies and procedures for employees and managers and makes recommendations to HR Manager for potential improvements.
  • Complying with federal, state and local employment laws
  • Interact with Human Resources Business Partners in updating and maintaining current job descriptions
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of various training and development presentations to employees
  • Provides administrative support with company Unemployment program
  • May administer or provide backup to other HR staff in the area of Leave of Administration (FMLA process, ADA accomodations, STD/LTD and WC processes)
  • Conducts new employee orientations, employee relations counseling, Employee surveys and exit interviews
  • Support HR management with regulatory reporting requirements (OSHA, EEO/AAP, etc)
  • Contributes to ongoing improvement of the HR department
  • Works on special projects relating to the development /modification of HR programs and procedures
  • Responding to employees' HR related inquiries
  • Provide HR guidance to ZOLL employees and managment team on a variety of HR and business related items that require sound HR practices and perspectives
  • Partner with Human Resources colleagues on employee relations and performance management issues and seek legal guidance when necessary
  • At the request of HR management prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends, such as hires, employee turnover and OSHA documentation


  • Effective working knowledge of Employment law, Employee Leave of Absences and HRIS
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Etc)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational and follow-through skills
  • Must be well organized and possess the ability to multitask
  • Demonstrated project and time management skills, with an ability to set and maintain priorities to meet deadlines
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment; handle a multitude of tasks; and adapt to change
  • Discretion around sensitive company and employee information

Required/Preferred Education and Experience:

  • The following are minimum requirements related to the Human Resources Generalist I position:
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in human resources
    • 3+ years related experience
    • An equivalent combination of education, certification and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for specific education and experience listed above
    • PHR or SPHR preferred
    • Prior experience with Workday a plus
