Job Summary

The Manager of Site Materials provides leadership, direction, and accountability for the Receiving, Shipping, Inventory Management, Warehousing, Work order kitting, and RMA processes and personnel. The manager builds strong collaboration within Operations, other cross-functional teams, contract manufacturers/distributors, and supply partners to adequately meet materials and distribution needs.

Essential Functions
  • Create, implement, and maintain a materials management strategy which continuously and quantitatively optimizes materials warehousing, inventory, presentation, and shipping processes.
  • Develop and measure standard processes for all department activities, ensuring transactional and systemic integrity, efficiency, and inventory accuracy.
  • Maintain necessary cycle counting and inventory review processes in coordination with finance, supply chain, and production collaborators.
  • Formulate policies, procedures, and reports for the effective management of materials.
  • Hire, train, lead, develop, and mentor employees and to maintain a high- performance work team with a strict focus on safety and ergonomics.
  • Maintain high performance standards for employees, with development opportunities for high-performers and performance management/remedial activities for lower-performers.
  • Lead materials department activities, directly and through supervisory delegation for planning, budgeting, resource & space management, scheduling, training, safety, quality, and continuous improvement of responsible areas relative to internal targets and external benchmarks.
  • Establish and deploy department goals and objectives that continuously improve business and process performance.
  • Engage team to generate and maintain a backlog of area and team improvements, collaborating with support and production teams to continuously improve key results.
  • Ensure department adherence to company policies, procedures, laws, and ethics codes and ensure that they are communicated and implemented within the department.
  • Measure, and urgently address any order fulfillment or shipping errors in collaboration with support, technical, and production teams.
  • Ensure compliance to country regulatory requirements, including medical device requirements and import/export regulations; maintain awareness and compliance with current US import/export requirements

Required/Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business administration, or materials management required.
  • MBA preferred.
  • 7+years of relevant Materials management, warehousing, distribution, and/or logistics experience.
  • 3+ years of management/leadership experience with a proven record of achievement.
  • Relevant procurement and/or materials management industry certifications preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent quantitative skills, as well as skilled in planning, communication, and analysis.
  • Experienced and competent with ERP systems, Microsoft Office, Agile, etc.
  • Project management experience with MS Project a plus. Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), traceability, RF-scanning, & warehouse automation a plus.
  • Experience with implementing Lean, Pull-systems, Kanban, etc. strongly preferred.
