X-Series – Configure Clock-Sync

  1. From the Supervisor menu, select 'Communications'
  2. Using the arrow softkeys, scroll down and select 'Clock Sync'
  3. In these fields, set the following:
    • 'Clock Sync'
      • SNTP if you would like to synchronize the X-Series internal time clock with an external time source

    • 'Time Server name'
      • The URL or IP address of an NTP server. Utilize your IT department’s preferred NTP server address if applicable.

If IT does not have a preferred NTP server, Then the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has public NTP servers around the United States that you can synchronize to. You should use time.nist.gov as the ‘Time Server Name’ address on the X-Series. For more information visit https://tf.nist.gov/tf-cgi/servers.cgi

    • 'Time Server Port'
      • 123

    • 'Daylight Saving Time'
      • This setting controls the starting state of the toggle DST button on the date/time menu accessed from the home screen (Whether the button will say “Enable DST” or “Disable DST” when you open the menu)
      • Set this to ON if you are currently in daylight time
      • Set this to OFF if you are currently in standard time
      • You should not be changing the setting from this screen after the initial setup is complete. All DST changes in the future will be made exclusively through the date/time menu via the home screen. (See: “Adjusting the Clock for Daylight Savings Time Changes” below).

    • 'Time Zone Offset hours' and 'Time Zone Offset Mins.'
      • This is your locale's offset value:
        • US Eastern Standard Time is UTC-5
        • US Central Standard Time is UTC-6
        • US Mountain Standard Time is UTC-7
        • US Pacific Standard Time is UTC-8
        • US Alaska Standard Time is UTC-9
        • US Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time is UTC-10
      • For a full list of time zones, visit https://www.worldtimezone.com/
  4. When you are done entering data, press the back arrow to return to the Supervisor>Communications menu.
  5. When changes are made on the Clock Sync menu, the X Series attempts to synchronize its time if a network connection is available.
  6. To validate your settings, press the home button until you are back at the homepage
  7. Use the arrow keys to highlight the date/time on the top left of the screen blue
  8. Press the select key to enter the date/time menu
  9. Use the arrow keys to scroll down until you see “Date/Time of Last Synchronization”
  10. This date/time should be the CURRENT date/time. If the time is off by an hour, try enabling/disabling DST. If the time is still incorrect, return to your Clock Sync settings in step 3 and confirm the offset is correct for your time zone.
  11. If the time is still incorrect in that field, re-check your offset in the Clock Sync setup menu.

NOTE: To ensure the real time clock never changes during patient treatments, any necessary clock synchronization corrections will not occur until the unit has been off for at least two minutes – the clock will then correct itself during next power on.

Adjusting the Clock for Daylight Savings Time Changes

  2. Open the Date/Time menu from the homepage
  3. Select Enable or Disable DST as needed
  4. Confirm the time is now correct
  5. Press the HOME key to return to the home screen
  6. Power off the X-Series
