FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ZOLL RENAMES PINPOINT TECHNOLOGIES SUBSIDIARY AS ZOLL DATA SYSTEMS TO BETTER SERVE EMS MARKETPLACE

CHELMSFORD, MASS.  Thursday, February 26, 2004 – ZOLL Medical Corporation (NASDAQ: ZOLL), a manufacturer of non-invasive cardiac resuscitation devices, is renaming its Pinpoint Technologies subsidiary as ZOLL Data Systems™. The new name reinforces the strong integration between Pinpoint’s data software solutions and ZOLL’s growing line of resuscitation products. This effort communicates ZOLL is the one company that meets the complete resuscitation and data management needs of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) marketplace.

ZOLL Data Systems retains the RescueNet™ name to describe its broad set of software solutions dedicated to the EMS market. The new naming and logo treatments for ZOLL Data Systems and the RescueNet family of products will be on display in ZOLL’s booth (#1011) at the 2004 EMS Today Conference and Exposition, a leading tradeshow for emergency medical personnel, from March 4 through March 6 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

RescueNet is an integrated data management system that centralizes information and helps EMS organizations improve the quality of their service, patient care, operational efficiency, and agency compliance. For more than a decade, only ZOLL and ZOLL Data Systems have offered a complete EMS information management solution that is deployed in hundreds of EMS organizations.

According to Richard A. Packer, President and Chief Executive Officer of ZOLL, “The new structure better reflects the strong integration with ZOLL and the vital role ZOLL Data Systems plays in helping EMS customers manage data throughout their business operations. The goal is to improve the resuscitation process by gathering and managing field data so all EMS personnel—from dispatch to field providers to billing personnel to medical directors—have the information they need when they need it.”

As part of the new structure, ZOLL has renamed all products in the RescueNet family and has updated the RescueNet product logo. “All ZOLL defibrillators communicate seamlessly with RescueNet products from ZOLL Data Systems,” said Vane Clayton, President of the ZOLL Data Systems subsidiary. “Our integrated software easily links EMS personnel in the field with the rest of the support team so they can focus their attention on patients rather than paperwork.”

Below is a synopsis of RescueNet product names and functions:

• RescueNet Field Data (formerly EMS Pro and PocketPCR)
RescueNet Field Data™ enables crews to easily and completely document incidents, allowing same-day billing and decreasing paperwork. RescueNet Field Data also automates electronic reporting to government agencies; reduces exposure to liability with complete, legible, and accurate patient care; and improves the confidentiality of patient data. RescueNet Field Data offers customers two product choices, one for Pocket PC and the other that supports tablets, laptops and PC workstations.

• RescueNet Code Review (formerly ZOLL Data Control)
RescueNet Code Review™ offers three product options for the collection of resuscitation data from the ZOLL M Series,™ the ZOLL AED Plus™, and RescueNet Field Data. Archived information can also be reviewed and appropriate reports generated.

• RescueNet Dispatch (formerly RightCAD)
RescueNet Dispatch™ is a state-of-the-art system that streamlines call-taking and dispatching, while capturing important patient history, which can be used in future calls. The product set also offers a Web viewer (formerly RightCAD.com) and a Web scheduler (formerly nettransit.com) as optional licensed modules.

• RescueNet Mobile (formerly Nomad)
RescueNet Mobile™ is an onboard electronic data-communication system that enables dispatch centers and crews to communicate immediately and precisely. RescueNet Mobile allows teams to improve customer service, response times, and data integrity. It also allows for call and patient information to be transferred to RescueNet Field Data.

• RescueNet Billing (formerly known as Sanitas)
RescueNet Billing™ automates the billing process and reduces claims errors, improving payment turnaround times. When installed with RescueNet Field Data, customers can achieve same-day billing. RescueNet Billing can be seamlessly integrated with RescueNet Dispatch so that collected information is immediately available to billing clerks, eliminating time-consuming, error-prone, and duplicated data entry.
