Biphasic Technology - More Current

More Current at 200 J than other Biphasic Waveforms at 360 J

RBW More Current

Current defibrillates the heart. The ZOLL Rectilinear Biphasic™ waveform (RBW) was designed specifically for external defibrillation to deliver the right dose of average current, over the optimal duration, regardless of patient impedance.

At 200 J, the ZOLL RBW charges the most possible voltage on the capacitor - 2,700V. Internal equipment resistors are added for low impedance patients so they are not "overdosed." Meanwhile, high impedance patients get the most possible current.  More Current Bar Graph

Other biphasic waveforms may have higher energy settings, but these settings are really just an illusion of more capability, created by extending the duration of the shock. The graph below shows how energy settings on different devices deliver very different amounts of current.

Read on to uncover the unique advantages of ZOLL's Rectilinear Biphasic waveform:

Principles of Electricity
More Current at 200 J than other biphasic waveforms at 360 J
Optimal Duration for Defibrillation Shocks
