ZOLL RESCUENET ePCR ACHIEVES LATEST NATIONAL COMPLIANCE STANDARD

January 10, 2017—CHELMSFORD, MASS.—ZOLL® Medical Corporation, an Asahi Kasei Group Company that manufactures medical devices and related software solutions, announced today that RescueNet® ePCR is officially National Emergency Medical Services Information System (NEMSIS) 3.4.0 compliant, meeting the latest version of the national data collection and reporting standards.

NEMSIS enables emergency medical services (EMS) databases from across the nation to be linked and share critical information. This allows for improved analysis of EMS procedures and patient care, comparison of data across jurisdictional and state boundaries, and better evaluation of the EMS role in healthcare. Version 3 helps ensure EMS is providing the best possible data for evidence-based care, and version 3.4.0 continues to improve on the quality data for EMS.

The changes from version 3.3.4 to 3.4.0 include small enhancements that will make a positive impact on EMS, according to Karen Jacobson, NEMSIS Director at the University of Utah.

“Symptom onset, or last known well, was separated out as a distinct element in version 3.4.0,” Jacobson said. “Clearly identifying when a patient was last known well is important when you look at stroke and cardiac arrest patients; this was hard to identify previously.”

Version 3.4.0 also added value choices based on feedback received from the EMS community.

“ZOLL has been and will continue to be committed to ePCR solutions that meet NEMSIS certification,” said Alex Moghadam, president of ZOLL Data Management Products. “Facilitating data sharing to drive performance improvement is the core of NEMSIS, and ZOLL is dedicated to this mission.”

RescueNet ePCR is pre-hospital patient care documentation and reporting software. The latest version, RescueNet ePCR 6.3, makes collecting additional NEMSIS-required fields easier, removes the struggles of maintaining compliance with state and national offices, and streamlines exchanging data with hospital partners by following the HL7 standard.
