During the Automatic Readiness Test, the 30 Joule shock can test into any of ZOLL’s OneStep Electrodes (left), into the 30 Joule test port in the base of the defibrillator (right), or into the Paddles installed in the paddle wells (Paddles are not pictured here).
To change the expected test location on your defibrillator, follow these steps:
If the defibrillator is set to “CPR/MwP/Complete” it must be connected to OneStep Electrodes for the readiness test to pass. If it is connected to the Base, Paddles, or the MFC is not connected at all, then the defibrillator will fail its self-test due to “Electrode: Not Connected”. This setting is for facilities who want their defibrillators plugged into OneStep electrodes at all times for the sake of code readiness.
If the defibrillator is set to “Base” or “No” then it will perform the self-test as expected as long as it detects any short to test through (OneStep Electrodes, Paddles, or Test Port).
