ZOLL TO SUPPORT 2019 VEGA IRONMAN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN KAILUA-KONA, HAWAII

October 10, 2019—CHELMSFORD, MASS.— ZOLL® Medical Corporation, an Asahi Kasei Group Company that manufactures medical devices and related software solutions, today announced that ZOLL's emergency care equipment and supplies will be on hand to support the medical team at the 2019 Vega IRONMAN® World Championship taking place on Saturday, October 12 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

Two ZOLL X Series® monitor/defibrillators, four Propaq® M monitors, two ZOLL AED 3® BLS and 10 ZOLL AED Plus® automated external defibrillators, and supplies will be available to the medical team should medical treatment be necessary.

All ZOLL defibrillators feature Real CPR Help®, the only CPR-feedback technology that has been shown to impact survival-to-discharge, as demonstrated in published research.1 The X Series also offers See-Thru CPR®, ZOLL's proprietary technology, which minimizes the duration of pauses in CPR by enabling rescuers to see whether an organized underlying rhythm is developing. Weighing under 12 pounds, the X Series is full-featured and is the optimal device for transporting critically ill patients. Having ZOLL monitors and defibrillators to quickly assess and treat athletes provides the medical team the tools they need in the event of a life-threatening emergency.

About the IRONMAN World Championship

Since its inception in 1978 on the island of Oahu, the IRONMAN World Championship has etched its name in history through stellar performances, inspirational participants, and emotional memories. In 1981, the race moved from the tranquil shores of Waikiki to the barren lava fields of Kona on the Island of Hawai`i where it continues to take place to this day. The race now sees over 2,500 athletes embark on a 140.6-mile journey that presents the ultimate test of body, mind, and spirit to earn the title of IRONMAN World Champion. The most iconic one-day sporting event in the world is the culmination of 40 global IRONMAN events with athletes around the world striving for one of the coveted qualifying slots. In 2019, the event will be utilizing the theme `Ohana, which in Hawaiian culture represents a specially bonded extended family to celebrate the greater IRONMAN community of athletes, volunteers, supporters, and partners.
