ZOLL SHOWCASES NEW VENTILATOR CAPABILITIES AT AMTC 2017

October 13, 2017—CHELMSFORD, MASS.—ZOLL® Medical Corporation, an Asahi Kasei Group Company that manufactures medical devices and related software solutions, will offer Air Medical Transport Conference 2017 (AMTC) attendees the opportunity to experience the new capabilities of its mechanical ventilation devices in booth 901 October 16-18 at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

Respiratory Care—Launching New Capabilities

Using ZOLL’s EMV+® Ventilator, participants will experience firsthand how lungs adapt to each ventilator mode. With its unique Smart Help technology, ZOLL ventilators provide on-screen prompts to guide users through alarm resolution. In addition, the EMV+ Ventilator is altitude compensated from -2,000 feet up to 25,000 feet (-610 meters to 7,620 meters), which is particularly valuable when transporting patients in flight.

ZOLL will also showcase new additional capabilities in the EMV+ that include inverse I:E ratio as well as plateau pressure measurement, allowing the air medical community to provide more tailored patient care for high-acuity patients such as acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

Addressing Air Medical Transport Needs

The ZOLL X Series® Monitor/Defibrillator, built on an expandable platform, addresses air medical transport needs now and moving forward. Weighing less than 12 pounds (6 kilograms), it delivers the capabilities of a full-featured monitor designed for use with all patients, ranging from neonates through adults.

It features Real CPR Help®, which in conjunction with scenario-based training, nearly triples the likelihood of patients surviving cardiac arrest1 and ZOLL’s proprietary See-Thru CPR® to let rescuers reduce interruptions in chest compressions by allowing them see underlying heart rhythms without pausing. Open 12-lead capabilities reduce time-to-balloon by interfacing with all leading ECG management and STEMI systems. Cutting-edge open communication, including integrated WiFi, simplifies transmission and charting.

Resuscitation on the Move

Designed for Resuscitation on the Move™, the AutoPulse® Resuscitation System allows air medical transport providers to continue providing high-quality CPR while in flight due to the low-profile design of the AutoPulse, making it the ideal automated CPR system for helicopter transport. A recent study showed that the AutoPulse had a significant survival benefit compared to manual CPR when resuscitation efforts lasted longer than 16 minutes.2 In a meta-analysis of 12 comparative clinical trials, the AutoPulse improved the odds of return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) by 62% when compared to manual CPR.3

ResQCPR System

Also on display is the ResQCPR™ System, which utilizes active compression-decompression CPR (ACD-CPR) and an impedance threshold device (ITD), to improve blood flow to vital organs and increase the likelihood that patients will survive sudden cardiac arrest.4,5 The two-device combination was shown in a large clinical trial to improve survival to one year from out-of-hospital, non-traumatic cardiac arrest by 49% when compared to treatment with conventional cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).5
