ZOLL EMT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM WINNERS TO BE ANNOUNCED AT SUMMIT 2016

May 17, 2016—CHELMSFORD, MASS.—ZOLL® Medical Corporation, an Asahi Kasei Group Company that manufactures medical devices and related software solutions, today announced it has selected the 12 recipients of the first annual ZOLL EMT Scholarship Program. The winners will be announced at ZOLL’s annual Summit Data meeting in Denver on Thursday, May 19. The event coincides with EMS Week May 15-21.

The ZOLL EMT Scholarship Program awards medical education grants annually to 12 qualifying caregivers who demonstrate a career commitment to the profession. The goal of the program is to support the education of EMTs (EMT-Basic, EMT-Advanced) who are working toward their paramedic certification (EMT-P). The first grants are being awarded this year.

“Our mission with this program is to help deserving individuals enhance their lifesaving skills and provide their communities with the best quality of care,” said A. Ernest Whiton, President of ZOLL Resuscitation. “The role they perform daily is vital to the well-being of all residents of their communities. People’s lives depend on EMTs to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and to transport the patient to a medical facility, and ZOLL is pleased to contribute to advancing this education.”

The scholarships are valid for credits earned in college degree curriculums and other independent, nationally certified programs that prepare participants for paramedic certification at the state or national level. The scholarship award decisions are made by an independent committee composed of medical directors/officers and ambulance company executives.

The application process for the 2017 ZOLL EMT Scholarship Program will open in January 2017.
