December 16, 2015—CHELMSFORD, MASS.—ZOLL® Medical Corporation, an Asahi Kasei Group Company that manufactures medical devices and related software solutions, today announced a major software upgrade for RescueNet® ePCR, making it compliant with NEMSIS 3, the latest version of the national data collection and reporting standards.

The National Emergency Medical Services Information System (NEMSIS) enables emergency medical services (EMS) databases from across the nation to be linked and share critical information. This allows for improved analysis of EMS procedures and patient care; comparison of data across jurisdictional and state boundaries; and better evaluation of the EMS role in healthcare. RescueNet ePCR 6.0 is one of the few patient care reporting solutions on the market that is fully compliant with the latest version of NEMSIS.

Greg Mears, MD, ZOLL Medical Director and the original creator of NEMSIS, said, “Through ZOLL’s RescueNet ePCR 6.0, EMS agencies have the opportunity to fully integrate with all of healthcare through Health Information Exchange (HIE) and regionalized systems of care. Patients with a time-dependent illness or injury such as stroke, STEMI, trauma, or out-of-hospital cardiac arrest all benefit from electronic health records that promote best practices, performance measures, and improved outcomes.”

RescueNet ePCR is pre-hospital patient care documentation and reporting software. The latest version makes collecting additional NEMSIS-required fields easier, removes the struggles of maintaining compliance with state and national offices, and streamlines exchanging data with hospital partners by following the HL7 standard.

Additional features and benefits of RescueNet ePCR 6.0 include:

  1. Compliance with the latest NEMSIS data standards
  2. Improved rule wizard for identifying necessary field collection
  3. Easier data mapping built into the system
  4. Pertinent negative/not values to identify required data when it isn’t accessible throughout the PCR

RescueNet ePCR 6.0 is available to all customers through a gated release.
