Opportunity to Respond to a Simulated 911 Call with Road Safety’s Proactive Coaching
February 25, 2015─CHELMSFORD, MASS.— ZOLL® Medical Corporation, a manufacturer of medical devices and related software solutions, will showcase its expanded portfolio of advanced CPR and acute critical care technologies, along with its integrated data solutions, in booths #404 and #2117 at EMS Today, February 26-28 in Baltimore.
Making its debut as part of the ZOLL family of products is the 731 Series of portable critical care ventilators, which ZOLL acquired from Impact Instrumentation, Inc. The rugged 731 Series ventilators are ideal for the ambulance transport of infants (≥5kg), pediatric patients, and adults and feature an unprecedented 10-hour battery life. Also new to the ZOLL portfolio, as a result of ZOLL’s acquisition of Advanced Circulatory Systems, Inc., is the ResQPOD® Impedance Threshold Device, which is used to enhance perfusion during CPR.
Unsurpassed CPR Support
ZOLL’s breakthrough CPR technologies, in conjunction with scenario-based training, have been shown to almost triple survival-to-hospital discharge with favorable neurological outcomes.1 This real-time CPR feedback technology reassures rescuers that their chest compressions are effective. With the CPR Dashboard™ featuring ZOLL’s Real CPR Help®, rescuers see numeric displays of CPR quality measures on the X Series® Monitor/Defibrillator that help to drive high-quality CPR. This dashboard provides real-time information on depth and rate, visual indicators of compression release, and a perfusion performance indicator. ZOLL recently announced its intent to expand the X Series interface to the Cardiac Arrest Registry to Enhance Survival (CARES) to include a full set of key CPR metrics.
As part of ZOLL’s long-time commitment to improving manual CPR, ZOLL makes Real CPR Help available on all AEDs and standard defibrillators the company ships. In addition to the X Series, this real-time CPR feedback technology is incorporated into the AED Plus®, the Fully Automatic AED Plus, and the AED Pro®.

EMS Today attendees will have a chance to test their CPR skills with and without the benefit of Real CPR Help. Using ZOLL’s RescueNet® Code Review software, which provides complete CPR performance feedback, participants will see a detailed analysis of their CPR performance. Stethoscopes will be given to top performers each day.
Mechanical CPR at Any Angle with the AutoPulse
Attendees will have the opportunity to experience the ease with which patients can be moved using the AutoPulse® Non-invasive Cardiac Support Pump. Participants will maneuver a patient through a course of stairs and tight turns, while the AutoPulse performs continuous compressions.
The AutoPulse is the only mechanical CPR system to have shown improved outcomes in comparative clinical trials. In a meta-analysis of 12 comparative clinical trials, the AutoPulse improved the odds of return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) by 62% compared to manual CPR.2 The CIRC trial, the largest prospective, randomized trial of mechanical chest compression ever completed, confirmed that the AutoPulse is equivalent to high-quality manual CPR for survival to hospital discharge.3
Advancing Care with Data-driven Solutions
Highlights from ZOLL’s data management suite of products include Road Safety®, a program for modifying driver behavior to improve safety and reduce vehicle maintenance costs. In booth #2117, attendees will have the opportunity to experience Road Safety’s proactive coaching as they respond to a simulated 911 call. Top drivers, graded on safety and response time, will be awarded prizes.

Survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest have been historically dismal. Recent advances have started to move the needle on survival from cardiac arrest. Learn from Brent Parquette, EMT-P, Lucas County EMS in Toledo, Ohio, about what’s driving increased survival in EMS systems today and hear about cutting edge research that may indicate what CPR will look like in the future to drive further increases in survival. Registration fee is $10. Proceeds will be donated to the Foundation for International Emergency Medicine Education and Certification (F.I.E.R.C.E.). The session will be held on Friday, Feb. 27, 12:00-1:30 p.m., in Room 327/328.
