Location: Cologne - ideally 2 days per week in the office

Role Definition:
Ensure established customs organisation is adhered to and implemented to remain legally compliant. The focus is on operations and not a team supervisor role, but with the opportunity to take on strategic tasks. Knowledge of German customs processes is mandatory. The position reports to Finace and has strong interactions with our Supply Chain team.
Tasks:
- Ensure import and export processing in compliance with applicable customs and foreign trade requirements.
- Monitoring and control of the service providers used (forwarding agents, CEP) with regard to import and export customs processing.
- Preparation and provision of the relevant documents for import and export
- Classification of goods in the customs tariff, obtaining binding customs tariff information and maintenance of customs-relevant master data in the ERP system
- Management of origin and preference of goods, including obtaining, checking and preparing supplier declarations
- Monitoring and support of the proper completion of imports (e.g. control of import customs notifications, control & monitoring of import declarations).
- Monitoring and supporting the proper completion of exports (e.g. control & monitoring of export declarations and correct scheduling).
- Communication with authorities (customs, IHK, BAFA).
- Cooperation with ZOLL stakeholders worldwide (EU and US logistics).
- Cooperation and support in customs audits
- Preparation and evaluation of analyses for Customs (KPI & Scorecards).
- Close cooperation with internal stakeholders such as Finance, Logistics & Supply Chain and Customer Service
- Independent implementation of changes in legislation with adaptation of internal processes and briefing of colleagues involved
Profile:
- You have successfully completed an apprenticeship with a focus on logistics, customs, supply chain or comparable. Preferably with subject-related further training. (e.g. logistics business economist etc. / training e.g. freight forwarding and logistics services clerk, wholesale and foreign trade clerk, industrial clerk).
- You have at least 4 years of relevant professional experience in the above-mentioned field.
- You are interested in customs and foreign trade issues
- You have several years of experience in customs clearance of import and export deliveries
- In addition, you have experience in the areas of preferences & origin of goods, tariff classification, export control
- Sound knowledge in the field of customs, you are aware of the importance of the topic for the company
- Experience in dealing with authorities and customs audits
- You have good knowledge and experience in the field of international logistics, transportation and supply chain
- Good analytical skills and knowledge of Excel and ERP systems, ideally Oracle (nice to have)
