The Operations Planning Manager is the primary point of contact for developing the divisional Sales and Operations Plan and partnering with Purchasing and Operations team to establish raw material and build plans suitable to ensure ongoing product availability.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop and Maintain all supply planning inputs and raw material forecasts within company systems.
  • Partner with Marketing and Finance teams to establish regular sales & active patient updates, and act as point person for market intelligence to the operations team.
  • Evolve & Lead Sales & Operations Planning processes for the division to continually meet and exceed business needs.
  • Monitor actual results vs plan to ensure proactive feedback to ongoing operational functions regarding back orders and proactive communication of supply risks.
  • Responsible for developing all supply chain reporting needs in support of purchasing associates and strategic sourcing specialists.
  • Proactively identify threats to the business and develop mitigation plans with operations team to mitigate or minimize impact.
  • Directly manage planning team associates (Demand Planners & Supply Chain Analysts) and ensure that they are strategically linked into the team as a key driver of business value.
  • Model “what-if” scenarios to illustrate effects of different variables related to, but not limited to, ramp-up, ramp-down, new product/feature launch, proactive field replacements etc.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the entire supply chain, including key strategic relationships and transitional states requiring an exit strategy.
  • Monitoring of both component and FG inventory, including coordination with materials team on execution of physical inventory activities 
  • Work under the supervision of the Director of Supply Chain in setting of the correct levels of inventory (safety stocks) within the Supply plan by understanding the demand volatility and supply chain lead times
  • Responsible for maintenance of all core supply planning master data.
  • Root causing of performance issues and recommendation to leadership on how to mitigate and sustain.

Qualifications include:

  • B.S. in Engineering, Business or Supply Chain (Master's Degree Preferred)
  • Minimum seven years planning or procurement management experience.
  • Strong leadership and people management/development skills
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Excel (super-user skills)
  • Expertise in statistical analysis and problem-solving techniques
  • APICS/IBF or other professional certification in Supply Chain concepts – preferred
  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt is a plus.
  • SQL experience is highly recommended.

Working conditions

This position is generally performed in a typical office environment that is usually quiet.  Employee is expected to work collaboratively with team members, as well as able to work independently with limited supervision.  Work will require significant computer and telephone work.

Physical requirements

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Supervisory responsibility

Position directly supervises planning team.
