Position Summary:  Business Process Analyst will be a key technical resource supporting business process and systems. Working with project stakeholders in all business areas, the Business Process Analyst will help with the development of flow map diagrams, operational and technical requirements, user acceptance testing script writing and test plans.             

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops requirements for technical enhancements or new software/feature releases by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas;
  • Support the execution of software project work plans and advise changes as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Work with the business owners or web development staff to create and revise specifications where appropriate.
  • Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying business needs.
  • Communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to  deliver the following artifacts as needed:
  • Functional requirements (Business Requirements Document, including business processes)
  • Use cases
  • Test plans and/or test cases (help translate functional requirements/specifications into working test plans and/or test cases)
  • Ability to develop standard operating processes as required for system enhancements or new system releases.
  • Advocate for software changes that are needed to improve efficiencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Educations and/or Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in IT or a related field or 5+ years of experience as an analyst or project manager required.
  • Deep understanding of flow map diagrams using Visio.
  • Deep understanding of documenting business and technical requirements.
  • Experience with MS Project, PowerPoint and Excel preferred.
  • Understanding of database structures preferred.
  • Can successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Can work independently work with end-users to define concepts OR under the direction of a project manager as needed.
  • Advanced analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and SMEs.

Language Skills:  Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
