The Legal and Compliance Assistant will provide support to the Legal and Compliance functions for the Resuscitation and Circulation divisions and will act as a liaison between these functions and key stakeholders inside and outside of the business.

The position reports to the Division General Counsel, Resuscitation and is located in Chelmsford, MA. 

Essential Functions:

Specific responsibilities of the Legal and Compliance Assistant will include:

  • Administrative Support

    • Preparing Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations

    • Arranging for signatures and notarizations; Serving as notary

    • Copying, filing and mailing/shipping legal documents

    • Arranging and coordinating travel schedules

    • Preparing expense reports

    • Scheduling meetings

  • Contract Management and Administration

    • Uploading contracts to contract management system 

    • Training/helping others use contract management system

    • Serving as administrator of contract management system for new users and permissions

    • Monitoring contract management system activity to make sure the data is useful, organized and understandable

    • Assisting with managing and improving the contracting process.

  • With oversight from internal counsel, drafting, editing and modifying agreements as instructed

  • Maintaining, updating and distributing the official versions of  contract templates.

  • Work cross functionally as a business partner to the business.

  • Identify and escalate issues and risks to internal counsel.

  • Assist with Compliance training and auditing.

  • Assist with project management of Legal and Compliance projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to professionally assert oneself when dealing with coworkers;

  • Effective listening skills to ensure understanding of instructions and directions and effectively communicate progress and problems to co-workers and management;

  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to actively listen

  • Intermediate/Advanced skills with Microsoft Office;

  • High level organizational skills and attention to details;

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment;

  • Positive attitude and even temperament;

  • An inquisitive self-starter;

  • Well-developed senses of urgency and accountability;

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of work, but spot issues and seek guidance from internal counsel when appropriate.

Required/Preferred Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of five years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a law firm or in-house experience preferred

  • Associates Degree or higher

  • Experience with Contract Management Systems
