The Cardiac Management Solutions division of ZOLL Medical Corporation develops products to protect and manage cardiac patients, including the LifeVest® wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD), the ZOLL cardiac monitor, and associated technologies.

Job purpose

The Director of Human Resources will develop and administer a broad spectrum of Human Resources policies, procedures and programs designed to promote the recruitment, retention and engagement of a qualified workforce for ZOLL’s Cardiac Management Solutions division of over 2000 employees.  Consults with and advises management and employees regarding employee issues.  Leads a team of HR staff accountable for ensuring delivery of high quality and professional HR support to a growing, complex business.  Directs the development, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures ensuring compliance with local, state and federal guidelines. The Director will work collaboratively with other teams with the HR department of ZOLL Cardiac Management Solutions and other ZOLL businesses in completion of the job responsibilities.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Works with leadership throughout the organization to plan and coordinate the full range of HR related activities to include employment, employee relations, compensation and benefits, training, HCM, EEO/AA, policy development, compliance, etc.
  • Consults with employees and managers at all levels, lending professional expertise to guide people strategies and resolve HR issues. Ensures HR decisions and actions are administered consistently and legally, avoid adverse impact, and are in compliance with existing laws, policies and procedures.
  • Supervises, guides, and develops HR staff, ensuring team is high performing and strategically aligned with the current needs of the business.  Ensures adequate and appropriate support to the business units.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to recommend changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Monitors and measures impact and effectiveness of HR activities and conducts special projects to support business needs. Continually assesses the competitiveness and effectiveness of all programs and practices against the relevant comparable companies, industries and markets.
  • Works with the VP of HR to develop and manage department budget.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of outstanding HR business partner experience and proven capabilities in a strategic HR environment including experience leading a team.  This experience should include HR policy and practices, compliance, employee relations, compensation and rewards, policy development and performance management.
  • Strong consulting skills with experience influencing and coaching leaders on core HR matters and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to recommend appropriate courses of action, with a willingness to demonstrate leadership courage and take unpopular positions when appropriate.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Adept at problem solving and analytical skills, with an ability to identify root causes and form solid proposals and recommendations.
  • Strong PC skills with ability to leverage appropriate technology effectively to enhance the work of the team.
  • Possess a high degree of personal integrity and strong work ethic demonstrated by a track record of delivering results.
  • SPHR/PHR certification is preferred.

Directly supervises employees within the Human Resources department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
