Job Summary:

The Materials/ Production Planning Manager position is responsible for the oversight and continuous improvement of the materials/ production planning function.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the generation of product line build plans In support of the Master Production Schedule.
  • Monitor actual production versus plan and resolve scheduling problems through coordination with manufacturing, distribution, quality control, and customer service.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of products and processes to ensure optimum manufacturing scheduling efficiency and effectiveness
  • Work with purchasing to expedite, reschedule or revise materials shipments to avoid disruptions in production while preserving ideal stock levels.
  • Continuously update product line schedules in support of changes to the master production schedule, Engineering activities and sales order demand.
  • Collaborate with production managers/suppliers to discuss performance metrics, provide performance feedback, and discuss production forecasts and changes.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, engineering, and quality assurance, to ensure the successful execution of the production plan
  • Support new product ramp-up key launch initiatives in collaboration with Operations, Engineering, Sales and Marketing.
  • Execute a Ramp-Down Process to safely reduce discontinued product stock, while

    Minimizing stock outs and inventory obsolescence of raw materials and finished goods.

  • Analyze inventories to determine how to increase Inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service.
  • Responsible for overall training and development initiatives for demand-supply planning staff.
  • Maintain and monitor accuracy of the Master Demand Schedule relative to demand.
  • Maintain and validate the planning percentages used to drive features and product options based on unit forecast quantities
  • Incorporate new products into the forecast and master production schedule.
  • Drive analytics and disposition of slow moving inventory.
  • Champion collaborative environment with accountability that assures effective supply chain operations.
  • Establish and maintain, as appropriate, a cross-functional communications network across the business with an emphasis on real-time interaction to assure product supply meets current customer demand.
  • Coordinate weekly backlog review meetings with members of Customer Service. Provide material Insight and production support as appropriate.
  • Provide scheduling information to customer service in support of backlog management and lead-time communication.
  • Assure appropriate sales order rescheduling activities are performed in accordance with established business plans
  • Assist Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering with evaluation of Engineering
  • Change Orders for effective implementation
  • Drive analytics and disposition of slow moving inventory

Skill Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of relevant automated ERP functionality including planning, bills of materials and inventory management.
  • Proficient in MS Office. Oracle experience beneficial
  • The desire, willingness and ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated competency in sales and operations planning and scheduling procedures, strategic thinking and leadership, with strong capabilities in relationship management with customers.

Required/ Preferred Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS Preferred
  • 5 -8+ years Materials/Production Planning management preferred
  • Must be mathematically Inclined, with an analytical aptitude
