Job Summary: Designs, develops, documents and maintains software to support development of ZOLL products.

Essential Functions:

  • Leads self and sometimes a small team or project group

  • Analyzes and creates software requirements from product and system requirements

  • Develops, documents , and maintains  high quality software designs, source code, and  unit tests for product software or supporting software such as tools (e.g., parsers, simulators)

  • Performs software integration activities for integrating software to software or hardware subsystems

  • Develops, documents, and executes software unit verification procedures

  • Participates in and supports the development of, and sometimes executes portions of, software verification protocols

  • Reports own progress towards performance and schedule objectives.  Identifies technical  risks, problems, and  work a rounds

  • Stays current with software engineering trends and technologies through activities such as self-study, webinars, seminars, user group meetings and conferences

  • Follows ZOLL's standard operating procedures and software engineering best practices

  • Mentors, guides, and supports less experienced software engineers

  • Collaborates with team members and contributes to positive team environment that creates high quality solutions

Skill Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of software design and development experience on a product development team

  • Knowledge and Experience with one or more programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Python

  • Technical depth in at least one software development specialization described below

Education Requirements:

  • BS degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering or related engineering or science discipline

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Positive attitude and affinity for teamwork, logic, innovation, initiative and self-sufficiency

  • Effective problem solving skills

  • Experience in a structured development environment with design controls

  • Experience with event driven object oriented software design methodologies

  • Experience with embedded software application development

  • Experience with embedded processors (e.g., ARM, DSP)

  • Experience with device driver development

  • Experience with real time operating systems (e.g., Green Hills Integrity, Mentor Graphics Nucleus, QNX, Micrium)

  • Experience with application development for non-real time applications (e.g., Windows , Linux, iOS)

  • Experience with database development (e.g. SQL, SQL lite)

  • Experience with web technologies (e.g., HTML 5, .JavaScript, REST)

  • Experience with test automation  and test development for automation  (e.g. .Jenkins)

  • Experience  with  user interface development  and technologies (e.g., Qt, Crank, Peg)
