Responsible for performing all functions that are required to provide technical support, field service and repair for ZOLL Circulation Division Temperature Management and TherOx systems throughout Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the European region. The service engineer must understand and comply with ZOLL Quality and Regulatory requirements, service procedures, work instructions and timelines for product service and management of customer complaints.  Service work will be conducted at the customers’ site and also at the ZOLL Service Center in Cologne Germany. Service Engineer should be based within a reasonable distance of the ZOLL office in Germany, Austria or other European country.


This is a position in Europe.


  • Respond to technical support and maintenance requests from customers, Sales Distributors and/or end-users. This will include telephone and email support and hands-on troubleshooting and repair activities.
  • Perform Planned Preventive Maintenance, STK, troubleshooting, repair and testing of ZOLL Temperature Management and TherOx systems at the customer site or at the ZOLL service center in Europe as required.
  • Work in accordance with all ZOLL released procedures, test methods and forms for the assigned range of ZOLL Circulation product service activities.
  • Complete all required service documentation and update device service history files for European Temperature Management and TherOx systems.
  • Provide technical training of ZOLL Temperature Management or TherOx systems to ZOLL sales distributors, clinical support staff and hospital biomedical engineers as required.
  • Perform TherOx system console setup, functional testing, upgrades and other service modifications including hardware and software updates to the installed base as required.
  • Maintain TherOx and Temperature Management service event documentation in compliance with ZOLL and local medical device reporting and traceability requirements.
  • Comply with complaint handling procedures for ZOLL Circulation product lines including device and accessory investigations, writing detailed investigation reports, CCR investigation and service record entries and maintain cooperation with the San Jose QA/RA team.
  • Provide input to the ZOLL Circulation USA manufacturing engineering, supply chain and R&D teams to improve performance and reliability of ZOLL temperature management and TherOx products.
  • Support the EMEA sales team, distributors and clinical associates as requested with system setup and operation training of ZOLL Temperature Management and TherOx systems.
  • Up to 80% European regional travel and other international travel may be required, with occasional working days exceeding 8 hours.



  • Up to 4 years of electrical, mechanical engineering and/or biomedical engineering education at the university level.
  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in the troubleshooting and repair of medical equipment in the hospital or corporate environment.
  • A thorough understanding of ISO 13485 medical device quality system standards and requirements.
  • Must be self-motivated, use independent judgment and be able to prioritize scheduled workload to meet daily and monthly business requirements and objectives.
  • Must have excellent communication and organizational skills and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Must have current EU citizenship, or residency and work permits.
  • Strong technical skills in electromechanical and/or other medical devices.
  • Ability to professionally and calmly interact with all customers in various situations and hospital environments. Understand, assess and escalate customer problems to the international ZOLL organization in a timely manner.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-through skills, mature interpersonal skills and work ethic, self-motivated and problem solver. Precise attention to detail and accuracy in workmanship and documentation is required.
  • Ability to utilize tools including databases, spreadsheets, email and other means available to effectively perform the required tasks.
  • Demonstrated personal organizational and time management skills. Able to perform multiple tasks efficiently and on time without the need for close daily supervision.
  • Positive, flexible attitude, responsible, dependable, reliable, professional and customer-focused behavior.
  • Strong written and verbal skills and knowledge of standard Office computer applications, in German and in English.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment under the direction of the European service manager.
