Position Summary:

Support and improve the flow of product through the Service/Manufacturing process by using knowledge of industrial engineering principles and Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work under the direction of engineers to perform data collection, analysis, and other engineering-related work, which may include the following:
  • Create and revise process documentation including change orders, procedures, standard work, station guides, and job aids.
  • Perform root cause investigations of process failures and product defects through engineer requests or the production event process.
  • Coordinate product/process changes or new product launches between the Manufacturing Systems and Production teams.
  • Work with Electro-Mechanical Techs and Production to setup new workstations and equipment.
  • Execute Installation Qualifications (IQ) of new equipment and workstations
  • Facilitate Operational and Performance Qualifications (OQ/PQ)  
  • Collect and investigate quality and evaluation data for trends requiring escalation
  • Analyze and report on Initial Setup Problem (ISP) data to determine appropriate category and if corrective actions need to be taken.
  • Identify process or tooling improvements to improve ergonomics, quality, and throughput.
  • Perform time and motion studies to determine labor standards and ergonomic improvements.
  • Maintain and revise the plant layout in AutoCAD to ensure accuracy

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • 0 – 2 years’ experience with an understanding of and experience in an electro-mechanical manufacturing or service facility
  • Working knowledge through application of Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma concepts
  • Strong customer focus
  • Experience working in teams to identify improvement opportunities related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost

Language Skills                                             

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills                                                   

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability                                                      

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
