Senior IT Systems Engineer, Product Development

Job Summary:

This position implements and supports IT projects for product development team.  This will include adding capabilities to and supporting existing infrastructure for software repositories, build systems, and other tools.  This position also implements wireless test networks that allow software and system test engineers confirm the communications features of our devices operate on wireless networks around the world.  This position is an individual contributor member of both the IT and product development teams collaborating to release new and updated defibrillator software and systems.

Essential Functions:

  • Create and support wireless networks for software and system testing
  • Collaborate and advise in the creation of wireless functionality testing
  • Create and support VMware virtual machines that host software infrastructure for software development
  • Provide technical guidance and root-cause analysis for escalated product installation problems
  • Support wireless communications product certification with external certification vendors
  • Stay current with wireless technologies and regulations
  • Install new and rebuild existing servers; and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure including backups.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.  Coordinate and communicate with impacted users/groups
  • Stay current with industry technologies, evaluate existing systems and infrastructure, identify and advocate solutions for continuous improvement.

Skills Requirements:

  • Experience with wireless network testing and analysis
  • Strong understanding of wireless networking technologies including routing, switching, firewalls & protocols
  • Understanding of coexistence test regulations and methodologies, desirable, but not required
  • Experience with Linux server administration
  • Experience with Active Directory and VMWare
  • Advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex networks
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Affinity for a collaborative team environment
  • Highly self-motivated with keen attention to detail
  • CCNA Wireless, CCNP Wireless, CCDP, CCIE, or CISSP certification(s), desirable, but not required

Required/Preferred Education and Experience:

  • BS in computer science, engineering or similar field; or equivalent work experience
  • At least 5 years experience
  • Proven experience with systems planning, security principles, and general software management best practices
