Job Summary: The Market Research Manager develops insights to drive the overall strategy and performance for the global LifeVest business.  The Market Research Manager will develop the organization’s understanding of customer/business insights through delivery of business analytics and market research, and will integrate insights as the foundation for decision-making.  The Market Research Manager will lead qualitative and quantitative primary research efforts, vendor selection and management of outsourced projects, and management of analytic projects leveraging internal and external data.  


  • Clearly defines research objectives and key questions.  Designs research projects using common qualitative and quantitative marketing research methods, and applies essential research design principles (pretesting, upfront analysis planning, and creating rational and achievable project plans). 
  • Develops, identifies, and uses appropriate/new research methodologies to lead insight generation, directly or through supervision of external suppliers, to inform business strategy, including customer and patient dynamics, competition, market segmentation, promotion, and sales strategy to successfully market products, enter new markets, and achieve growth and profitability goals.
  • Ensures management and coordination of market research studies including study design, screener and questionnaire development, recruitment, fieldwork logistics, data collection, planning and management.
  • Assess performance vs. business objectives and institutionalize ROI methodology for investments (unit/dollar volume, market share, sales structure, marketing/sales programs, advertising and promotional spending).
  • Thoroughly defines problems, and structures/recommends analytical paths or research approaches to solve them leveraging internal or external data.
  • Experience identifying and evaluating secondary data sources and integrating with internal data.
  • Manages and imparts operational excellence in project management of qualitative and quantitative techniques and internal analytic projects. Ensures accuracy and attention to details for all phases of research, including questionnaire programming, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Interprets and integrates primary and secondary research data, draws meaningful conclusions, and translates data into business insights and recommendations.
  • Summarizes and communicates research results, including presentation to senior leadership.
  • Synthesizes information and facts to draw supported conclusions and insights
  • Leverages internal and external data/databases to create reports and models for marketing team.
  • Expert at identifying data limitations or weaknesses and leading recommendations to leverage existing data despite limitations. Recommends processes for improving the integrity of existing data/databases.
  • Develops expert understanding of internal customer and business data
  • Creates or supervises the creation of market opportunity models
  • Balances multiple projects, deployment schedules, and budgets to meet stakeholder goals and expectations.
  • Provides coaching to Market Research Analyst.


  • MA, MBA, in business, marketing, psychology or related field; BS considered with strong experience. 
  • 6+ years primary market research related experience. 
  • 6+ years managing analytic projects.
  • Thorough understanding of qualitative and quantitative market research methodologies, analytical tools, industry principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to use research tools and techniques, e.g. focus groups, IDI's, on line and telephone surveys.
  • Extensive experience in data collection techniques, data analysis, and transformation of data into insights used to drive business decisions.
  • Use of statistical, multivariate and modeling analyses, in-depth knowledge of research techniques used to assess concept/product/program, identify targets, and monitor business performance are all required.
  • Experience conducting message testing research strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years vendor management experience required across a range of research studies.
  • 5+ years developing research instruments including surveys, screeners, and moderator guides. 
  • Extensive knowledge of statistical sampling, tests, and analyses
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret results and draw conclusions from analyses; troubleshoot errors in data, models, and interpretation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and be an independent problem solver.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects according to established deadlines.
  • Must possess excellent creative and analytic problem solving skills. Analyzes situations to think of new solutions and make recommendations.
  • Highly organized with the ability to set priorities, develop and manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously with good attention to detail.
  • Strong skills at managing internal and external resources (people, information, technologies, and budgets) and allocate resources appropriately.
  • International market research experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience supervising others strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage cross functional teams
  • Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, and/or healthcare industry strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communications.
  • Travel 10-15%

Language Skills:                                                                                                                                                                             

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
