Department lead and senior writer for the editorial services team. Develop high-quality, targeted content and consistency across a broad spectrum of communications, including print and digital. Responsible for content, editing, managing complex editorial projects, and supporting numerous initiatives while managing two direct reports. Ensure that company, divisional, channel, and product messaging are embedded in communications to advance the mission and vision of ZOLL. Reports to the Director of Integrated Marketing Communications Services.


Essential Functions:

Plan, manage, strategize, collaborate, and perform the writing, editing, and proofreading of all forms of marketing and promotional materials, including those that are clinical in nature.

Supervise and mentor direct reports and freelance writers, while being an integral part of the wider Marcom Services team. Work with global internal customers within the Marketing department but also in other functional areas such as Human Resources and Technical Services.

A successful candidate must have strong content writing skills in B2B and corporate communications settings. In addition, a level of understanding of company and product messaging and positioning is important.



  • Compose and edit persuasive, multi-format and cross-channel content
  • Coordinate, leverage, and collaborate on various campaigns and initiatives simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, ability to handle multiple projects, and work cross functionally with several divisions and channels
  • Ability to manage editorial projects, copywriting, and deadlines for domestic and international projects
  • Manage, collaborate, and mentor a team of writers/editors
  • Maintain the highest editorial standards for all copy and ensure that it conforms to the brands Style Guide and Writing Guidelines
  • Upkeep the writing guidelines as well as citations, facts, and unique product features of the organization
  • Work effectively with Manager of Creative Services, Digital Marketing Manager, and Senior Project Manager, along with their direct reports, to meet requirements for intricate campaigns and product launches
  • Build and maintain productive relationship with various marketing managers, executives,  and decision makers
  • Edit a variety of print and digital marketing communications, including brochures, spec sheets, whitepapers, webpages, eblasts, landing pages, web site, and scripts for animated videos
  • Oversee freelance content writers if needed
  • Oversee regular website content reviews
  • Support other projects as a part of the Marcom Team
  • Develop annual objectives and conduct annual reviews for direct reports; train and mentor these reports


  • 10+ years of relevant writing and editing experience, as well as managing and mentoring a staff, preferably within a medical device or other regulated healthcare environment; clinical writing experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., journalism, English, communication and/or writing)
  • Proficient at marketing writing, creative writing, clinically oriented writing
  • Excellent developmental editing skills
  • Good organizational skills for managing multiple projects and team
  • Strong interpersonal and client-service skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and project management systems is helpful
