Senior Electrical Engineer, Advanced Development

Location: Chelmsford, MA



Job Summary:

The Advanced Development Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for prototyping and developing hardware electronics and systems to evaluate feasibilities of new life saving technologies as well as provide analysis and recommendations for advances in existing complex designs.  Responsible for coordinating their work within the advanced development team and with cross-functional team members in scientific and clinical affairs, product development, regulatory, quality, and manufacturing.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop hardware solutions for projects within the Advanced Development organization
  • Develop high quality electronic designs and hardware suitable for evaluation of new technologies as well as for enhancements to current products
  • Develop and maintain a working understanding of customer clinical challenges and needs in resuscitation; identify potential solutions to challenges
  • Translate customer and system requirements into preliminary hardware requirements
  • Transition preliminary electrical designs and prototypes to product development once feasibility is established for product development and commercialization
  • Support product development as a technical expert
  • Contribute to hardware/software integration activities for integrating new technology hardware into systems and devices
  • Develop and review electrical verification test plans and protocols for hardware developed by the advanced development team
  • Remain current with electrical engineering trends and technologies through activities such as self-study, webinars, seminars, user group meetings and conferences
  • Identify technical challenges and risks, and recommend and implement solutions
  • Follow standard operating procedures and electrical engineering best practices including documentation of hardware architectures and schematics
  • Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive team environment that creates high quality solutions

Skills Requirements:

  • In-depth technical knowledge in both analog and digital design
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB, simulation and schematic capture tools, and programming languages such as Python or C++
  • Strong understanding of hardware and software integration in electromechanical systems
  • Demonstrated innovativeness through solutions in electronics, signal acquisition, digital signal processing, embedded systems, and/or related engineering challenges
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude and strengths in teamwork, logic, initiative, and innovation
  • Strong critical thinking with effective problem-solving skills in solving new, unique, and deep technical challenges
  • Ability to foresee challenges and provide alternative solutions and make strong recommendations with engineering-based rationales
  • Ability to prioritize and work on more than one project concurrently
  • Holds self-accountable for delivering on commitments

Required/Preferred Education and Experience:

  •  BS degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related engineering or science discipline; MS degree preferred
  • At least 6 years of analog and digital electronics design and development experience in a research and development environment with demonstrated technical leadership
  • Experience designing electronics/hardware that meets customer, cost, and manufacturing requirements is desirable
