The Cardiac Management Solutions division of ZOLL Medical Corporation develops products to protect and manage cardiac patients, including the LifeVest® wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD), the ZOLL cardiac monitor, and associated technologies.

We are actively seeking technical contributors at all levels and across many disciplines (including enterprise/web and embedded software, electrical/hardware, mechanical/industrial, test, systems engineering, project/program management, human factors, systems analysis, and technical writing among others). You will be developing new and improved products and services, solving technically challenging problems, and working with an outstanding team of technical professionals who are dedicated to protecting patients from sudden cardiac death and saving lives.

Job purpose

The Manager of Software Testing is responsible for leading a team of software quality assurance engineers to test Cardiac Management Solutions software products throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Leads a team of software QA engineers on multiple research, development, and sustaining projects.
  • Serve as coach/mentor for team members and continually enhance technical capabilities of the team.
  • Sets objectives and conduct performance reviews.
  • Recruits, develops, and retains high performing talent.
  • Track and improve productivity of the team.
  • Maintains product testing process consistency across various software project teams.
  • Create, communicate and manage quality assurance metrics for software releases.
  • Provides effective communication of status regarding issues, objectives, initiatives and performance to a plan.
  • Ensures that projects are completed successfully as established by their specification, schedule and product cost requirements.
  • Coordinates project timelines, determines and obtains resources, assigns work, monitors progress and results, and provides technical leadership.
  • Proactively removes obstacles to drive progress. Manages issue escalations and provides support to teams balancing multiple competing priorities.
  • Estimates work breakdown structures, task duration, milestone definition and resource management.
  • Collaborates with all areas of company (engineering, regulatory, customer support, manufacturing, marketing…).
  • Collaborates with other engineering managers to establish development standards and development tools across teams.

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Science, or other related technical discipline. 
  • A minimum of 8 years software testing experience.
  • 3 + years of leading test activities on software projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams on complex projects.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Preferred experience testing medical device software and familiar relevant software quality regulations and standard
