Shipping & Receiving Clerk

Location: San Jose, CA



Perform shipping and receiving function as required by management. Receive material and supply items and process receipts according to procedural guidelines. Package products for shipments to various locations worldwide as required. Physically and systematically move materials and supplies within the organization as required. Prepare returns to vendor (RTV’s) as required. Maintain accurate inventory logs. Perform other functions within materials or other departments as assigned by management.


This is a temporary position for up to 6 months, in San Jose, CA.


  • Fill orders, or make sure orders are filled correctly
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Process Material Transfer Records (MT’s) according to procedure
  • Decide shipping method, using knowledge of shipping routes and rates
  • Create shipping labels on UPS and FedEx systems as required
  • Pack, seal, label and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping
  • Move goods from warehouse to shipping areas accordingly
  • Contact companies to arrange for shipping and delivery of goods, or to correct problems
  • Verify contents of shipment against original order and packing list
  • Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, and damages
  • Deliver or route materials to departments as required
  • Perform receiving operations as required
  • Use computers, MRP system and other technical equipment to perform many duties





  • Ability to operate material handling equipment (Forklift)
  • Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs., push pull up to 150 lbs
  • Climb ladders without assistance
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time on concrete floors
  • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task in a fast paced manufacturing environment
  • Computer skills MS Word, Excel, email, FedEx and UPS shipping systems experience
  • Good verbal/written communication skills
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Basic math skills


Education/Training/Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Proficient with the UPS and FedEx on-line system. At least five years experience in all warehouse functions including shipping/receiving, stock put away, stock retrieval and cycle counting. HazMat handling, training and experience.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficiency in general software.


Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
