Overview

Responsible for the use, repair and maintenance of electro-mechanical laboratory equipment.  Coordinate equipment documentation and calibration, work with outside vendors and keep the lab orderly.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure that all laboratory equipment is stored in a clean and orderly fashion and is calibrated and ready for use
  • Ensure that the documentation for all laboratory equipment is released and up to date
  • Repair and maintenance of electro-mechanical equipment lab equipment as required
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Maintains the necessary laboratory supplies by checking stock, anticipating needs, and ordering as required
  • Ensure that the laboratory is kept clean and orderly, conduct 5S cleanings, and provides recommendations to management on how to further optimize the available laboratory floor space and or equipment calibration
  • Conduct product testing, analyze test data, and document testing
  • Troubleshoot and analyze product failures, propose design improvements, implement solutions
  • Assists with the risk management process to ensure we design safe and effective products
  • Release drawings and build documentation using ZeDS DCO process

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree, Mechanical or Electronics Technician certification, plus a minimum of five years’ related experience
  • Medical device work experience a plus
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the complex documents
  • Working knowledge of desktop computer and software programs
  • Able to trouble shoot and repair electro-mechanical laboratory equipment
  • Able to review equipment specifications and define the annual preventative maintenance
  • Able to conduct hands-on calibration testing for unique laboratory equipment
  • Works well with inside customers and outside vendors to ensure that equipment is correctly calibrated and repaired as required
  • Able to document and release equipment documentation
  • Follows policies and procedures; able to work effectively as part of a team
  •  Adapts to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; changes approach or method to best fit the situation; able to deal with frequent change, delays, and or unexpected events
  • Meets challenges with resourcefulness, generates suggestions for improving work
  • Demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles
  • Ability to generate drawings using Solidworks a plus
  • Experience with mills, lathes, and CNC a plus
