Job Summary

Process all cash transactions in the reimbursement department.

Essential Functions

• Post all incoming electronic and manual payments, denials and offsets to patient accounts. Identify payments that are less than agreed upon amount and forward to the Collector for review and resolution.
• Bill secondary claims and re-bill claims that are lost by insurance company/vendor and provide substantiating documentation if necessary.
• Maintain refund data for reporting to management.
• Identify payments that should be posted to the Unapplied Account or the Retraction Pending Account.
• Adjust claims based on projects assigned by management before end of the month.
• Auto-Post: review payment remit to ensure payment will be posted to the correct account and correct if necessary.
• Post denials to correct date of service utilizing the denial code that best matches the reason for denial.
• Use RT queue to review and move payment corrections submitted to the queue.

Required/Preferred Education and Experience

• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in medical cash posting or medical billing and collections. Required and
• Electronic cash posting experience. Required and
• Experience working with all payer types to include government and commercial insurance companies Required and
• Experience with Microsoft Office and navigating Windows software Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Understanding of HCFA-1500 claim forms and re-billing process.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Multi-tasking with a strong attention to detail and ability to meet to strict deadlines
