The Principal Data Scientist is responsible for developing signal processing algorithms, pre-clinical and clinical data pipelines, and automated analytics in a largely self-directed manner. The Principal Data Scientist will serve as a mentor to Research and Data Scientists and will assist Scientific Affairs in the supervision and training of Research and Data Scientists, with a focus on data analysis efforts. The Principal Scientist will establish and maintain relationships with KOL’s and cooperate with the Clinical Affairs department to maintain and evolve clinical data pipelines. The individual will be a key participant on clinical trial development teams and will support other departments within the company as needed.
Essential Functions:
Data Analysis
Develop algorithms and analyze preclinical and clinical data sets
Develop stochastic and deterministic models of pathophysiology and patient treatment
Prepare abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts and present research at scientific meetings and to customers
Facilitate data collection, data storage and data auditing for preclinical and clinical data sets.
Develop and maintain code repository for Scientific Affairs department.
Project Management
Lead ongoing database development and computational modeling projects
Coordinate data development efforts with internal and external stakeholders
Develop and maintain KOL relationships
Mentoring
Mentor and supervise Research and Data Scientists
Develop and train team on data analysis methods and best practices
Participate in clinical development teams, and support Clinical Affairs with site management, as needed
Skill Requirements:
Demonstrated expertise in organizing, processing, analyzing, and presenting physiological data, including statistical analyses.
Demonstrated interest in developing data analysis expertise in others
Excellent written and verbal communication skills as demonstrated through presentations and publications
Demonstrated expertise in data modeling and relational database development is preferred.
Strong programming experience with STATA, Python, and/or MATLAB is preferred.
Required/ Preferred Education and Experience:
PhD in a Data Science related field (e.g. Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Bioinformatics, etc)
6+ years of relevant experience
Background in physiology and/or medicine, either through education or professional experience. Experience with prehospital medicine (e.g. emergency medicine, military medicine, trauma) or cardiology is preferred.
