Job purpose

Manage field-based representatives responsible for increased levels of revenue attainment and resolution of unbilled exception management with CMS physicians, other healthcare professionals, and support staff.

Duties and responsibilities

List the primary job duties and responsibilities of the position.

60%      Manage activities facilitating additional documentation collection when indicated for medical orders and authorizations to ensure timely and accurate claims processing from the payor.

25%      Complete analysis to define and execute strategies with tactical plans to deliver on company objectives.

15%      Manage activities related to conducting complete patient reviews with healthcare professionals and office staff.

  • Monitors and addresses trend analysis specific to assigned geography to determine where specific activity is impeding reimbursement success
  • Monitors and enforces team and individual metrics, progress to goals, coaching for improvement, and performance management
  • Analyzes and take action on report data to improve business relationship with prescriber offices through trending of exception types and volume
  • Monitors, reviews, and revises team processes and systems for success and opportunities
  • Perform routine 1:1s with direct reports
  • Holds and conducts weekly meetings with team members as a group and individually to review exceptions and progress to goals
  • Provides coaching to PCA education and support to staff to reduce medical order exceptions and increase electronic orders
  • Proactively manages awareness & actions related to $0 Revenue Trends utilizing SMA, PAP, Fit Not Billable and Transition of Care reports
  • Tracks recurring revenue and reauthorization trends, while identifying document collection best practice for all new medical orders and reorders
  • Delivers monthly and quarterly business review to Sales Leadership providing overview of business, challenges, plans for improvement
  • Meets and/or exceeds assigned revenue quota.
  • Develops and masters all 3rd party payer requirements to help team navigate payers
  • Provides support during times of absence or vacancy (vacation, leave, time out of territory for training / meetings, etc.)
  • Supervises, motivates, and monitors staff to ensure compliance with procedures and standards
  • Identifies any workflow problems, obstacles or improvement opportunities with Reimbursement department and leadership
  • Develops direct reports through utilizing development plan, career path exploration, and succession planning
  • Maintains up-to-date information for all Payers via internal resources used by Reimbursement team
  • Effectively manages employee performance to department metrics with consistent feedback and improvement plans
  • Coordinate hiring/onboarding process for new team members
  • Fosters a team environment within designated area, leads by example, motivates and inspires team
  • Complies with Standard Operating Procedures, particularly HIPAA
  • Assists with departmental projects and special tasks as assigned (e.g., Pilot Teams).
  • Participates in any and all reasonable work activities as assigned and deemed appropriate by management


  • Bachelor’s Degree required from a four-year college or university
  • 3-5 Years of prior Field Management experience within Healthcare/Medical Device
  • Healthcare/Medical Device (Clinical or Billing) experience preferred
  • Experienced ability to navigate Hospital and Clinic/Practice environments defined as proficiency navigating hospital flow, document collection, along with competent and confident provider and patient interaction
  • Ability to proactively plan and work autonomously in close collaboration and communication with others
  • A high sense of urgency and flexibility to one’s schedule
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to multi-task  
  • Problem solving mentality, while being accountable for each task from beginning to end.
  • Proficient working knowledge of MS Office (including Power BI, Excel, Word, Outlook) & Customer Relationship Management systems (, Dynamics) is preferred.
  • Effective team player who is also capable of working independently with strong self-motivation.

This job is a field-based position.  Employee will be responsible for working daily in hospitals, doctors’ offices and other medical establishments within the assigned territory.  Approximately 60% travel within a defined geography. Occasionally may be required work atypical hours (evenings and weekends) based on business needs.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
