Senior Research & Development Technician

Location: East Providence, RI

Primary Purpose:    

To qualify new or modified products and materials for external defibrillation, monitoring, pacing, and other specialty products, by producing design control documentation and test protocols, managing the sample builds and execution of the test protocols, and writing the final test reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Write protocols, manage sample builds and testing, and write final reports for verifications and validations of products or modifications to products.

  • Prepare and/or update Design Control documentation required for development of products or modifications to products.

  • Generate documentation for products or modifications to products, such as SOP’s, SIP’s, QC forms, drawings, BOM’s, etc.

  • Provide technical support of existing products by participating in investigation and resolution of field incidents, customer complaints, manufacturing problems, and quality issues as needed.

  • Assist Engineering and Regulatory as needed to prepare technical documentation, including documents needed for 510(k) submissions, PMA submissions, Technical Files, and audits.

  • Continually work to improve quality and efficiency of test methods.

  • May provide day to day guidance for R&D technicians

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage R&D lab projects at any stage, from initiation to implementation.

  • Perform testing and recording of data as needed for specific projects.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Proven knowledge and experience with all of the testing performed in R&D and with electrode development processes

  • Ability to read specifications, procedures, and engineering drawings

  • Spreadsheet and word processing skills using Excel and Word

  • Good observational, writing, and math abilities

  • Good communication, teamwork, and organizational skills

  • Must be able to influence and coordinate activities of personnel over which no direct authority is held

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization

Education/Training/Experience:

  • High school diploma, Associates Degree or equivalent required with 5 or more years of relevant experience

    • Any similar combination of education and experience
