Embedded Software Architect

Locations: Chelmsford, MA or Parsippany, NJ


Job Summary: As a member of a software development team, your role will be primarily focused at designing and developing software for new and existing products.  Your role will extend from leading the development of software roadmaps to requirements analysis through architecture and design to implementation.  You will be responsible for coordinating your work with cross functional team members, including usability design and requirements verification.

Essential Functions:

  • Participate as an active team member in all aspects of the software development life cycle
  • Review system requirements and other partner requirements to develop software requirements.
  • Work with other software team members to allocate the software requirements to the software architecture.
  • Develop C/C++ software for an embedded real-time OS environment
  • Closely coordinate with system test engineers to support execution of verification protocols to ensure accurate feature-level performance
  • Support system engineers and HW engineers to develop hardware software interface.
  • Develop risk analysis on the software level and support systems engineers developing risk analysis at the system level.
  • Support field issue resolution and root-cause analysis.
  • Contribute to software process improvement


Required/ Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Strong experience developing with C and C++
  • At least 8+ years of software design and development experience on a product
  • Experience with embedded processors (ARM experience preferred)
  • Experience with object oriented software design methodologies
  • Experience with real time operating systems (e.g., Green Hills Integrity, Mentor Graphics Nucleus, QNX, Micrium)
  • Experience with user interface development and technologies (e.g., Qt, Crank, Peg)
  • Experience as a software architect/technical for complex software systems
  • Strong debugging and problem solving skills
  • Experience with medical device development is helpful, but not required
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related discipline
