Job purpose

The Technical Content Developer (TCD) is responsible for the design, development, execution, and maintenance of project and product documentation throughout the product realization process life cycle.  This is achieved by working with the cross-functional project teams to determine documentation needs for the assigned project. 

Duties and responsibilities

Primary job duties and responsibilities of the position:

  • Creates, publishes, and maintains documentation and labeling to meet regulations for FDA Class III and MDD/MDR Class IIb medical devices; including, but not limited to: product manuals, instructions for use, and architecture design documentation.
  • Creates, publishes, and maintains detailed understanding of available engineering information; including, but not limited to: architecture descriptions, engineering drawings, and engineering test reports.  
  • Creates and edits text content and graphics for print and electronic delivery of manuals, web sites, and embedded user interfaces for mobile and desktop interfaces.
  • Prepares and maintains deliverables in English and other languages as required.
  • Coordinates translations of print and electronic documents.
  • Assists with usability testing of medical devices and documentation.
  • Analyzes, organizes, and presents information based on audience needs and the purpose of the information.
  • Performs other duties as needed by project teams


  • B.S. or M.S. degree or equivalent industry experience in technical content development or a related discipline. Typically, 5+ years of relevant experience. Proven track record performing the above Duties and Responsibilities.
  • Ability to efficiently convey moderately complex subject matter through both written and oral communication. 
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to R&D management, cross-functional project team members, and other employees of the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with MadCap Flare, Adobe Illustrator, and InDesign, or equivalent software, used in the creation and publishing of manuals, labels, and online content.


  • Proficient in MadCap Flare, Adobe Illustrator, and InDesign.  
  • Medical device, FDA regulatory experience
  • Familiarity with agile software development

Working conditions

This position is located at ZOLL Cardiac Management Solutions offices. Evening and weekend work may at times be required.

Supervisory responsibility

No direct reports, however general guidance, technical supervision, compliance and quality reviews, and initial performance review write-ups of junior engineers and technicians is required.
