Job purpose

Apply signal processing and machine learning techniques to develop new algorithms for understanding ECG and other medical data.  These algorithms improve outcomes and quality of life for our patients.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Conduct applied research on signal analysis algorithms to detect / predict patient condition.
  • Collaborate with teams of Physicians, Software Engineers, Data Scientists, and Machine Learning Specialists, among others, to identify needs, define requirements, and develop complete, fieldable solutions.
  • Actively participate in the development of system architectures for training, testing, and deploying machine learning models.
  • Keep abreast of pertinent signal processing / machine learning research by studying published work and attending conferences.
  • Manage aspects of research and development projects including scope, resources, and schedule.
  • Comply with development processes, tools, and best practices with the R&D organization.


  • B.S. Degree, or equivalent industry experience, in computer engineering / computer science or related field with an emphasis on digital signal processing and machine learning.   M.S. or Ph.D. degree preferred.
  • Typically, 5+ years of practical research / development experience.  
  • Practical experience with machine learning or signal processing.
  • Proficiency with object-oriented and scripting languages, preferably Python.
  • Experience with cloud computing and big data analysis. 
  • Track record of delivering correct and performant solutions.
  • Familiar with both waterfall and agile project management methodologies and able to apply when appropriate. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and motivate team members across functions.
  • Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities.
  • Experience with mentoring junior engineers.
