Job purpose
The Reimbursement Collection Specialist assists with the reimbursement process by completing outbound/inbound phone calls to obtain and verify information with patients, physicians, and facilities to expedite the reimbursement process.
Duties and responsibilities
Utilize current workflow processes, AR reporting and billing system to identify claims that are past timely payment
Perform collection activities as required
Utilize specified web portals or contact of hospitals and other facilities to verify in-patient stays and discharge dates
Obtain BLS contractual data, initiate addition of BLS to billing system, create/monitor sales order to ensure appropriate reimbursement/termination of billing for DOS indicated
Serve as a customer service point-of-contact for all inbound calls routed to the department
Verify insurance and physician information with patients and/or their designated contacts
Confirm patient usage by reviewing account details and/or contacting the patient via phone as needed
Obtain updated insurance information and submit for COB
Prepare and mail letters to patients where we have been unsuccessful in voice-to-voice contact
Resolve cross-functional account issues in a respectful and timely manner
Utilize position knowledge to surface issues to management team
Serves as primary Tiger Team personnel for cross-functional Reimbursement assistance as required
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
H.S. Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum 1-2 years experience with insurance verification.
Experience with Microsoft Excel, email programs, and online information systems.
Experience working with all payer types to include Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party commercial insurance companies.
Call center experience a plus
