Job purpose

The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for supporting the management and employees of designated ZOLL departments in relation to, performance management, employee development, employee relations, wage and salary administration, benefits, staffing and general employment matters.  This role will act as a liaison between employees and management as needed to resolve concerns that arise in the workplace.  The Human Resource Manager will work with other teams within the HR Department in support of their assigned departments.

Duties and responsibilities

The Human Resources Manager is an integral member of the Human Resources Department and has primary responsibility for managing the employment processes and employee relations.

  • Provides consultative support to ZOLL Cardiac Management Solutions (CMS) employees and management in relation to performance management, employee development, employee relations, staffing, benefits, wage and salary administration and general employment matters. 

  • Consults with management regarding performance management of employees, the need for coaching and counseling and progressive disciplinary actions.

  • Partners with management team to assist with understanding and applying HR tools to maximize employee performance and to achieve organizational effectiveness and legal compliance.

  • Works with leaders and HR peers to ensure employees are developing to their potential through the use of employee development plans, planned development activities and experiences, educational opportunities and other activities.

  • Assists in the administration of the annual performance appraisal process including reviewing evaluations of underperforming employees and working with management on remediation efforts.

  • Ensure that ZOLL maintains pay equity through recommendation and review of pay rates related to job offers, promotions, market adjustments, job changes etc.

  • Reviews policies and procedures recommending adjustments/modifications as needed.

  • Partners with talent acquisition function and dedicated HR staff to support the talent acquisition needs of the supported departments.

  • Conduct outreach to community organizations to ensure that ZOLL is building and maintaining relationships with organizations representing under-represented groups

  • Ensures that ZOLL is maintaining a diverse and inclusive workplace free from discrimination and harassment that values individuals and their contribution to the workplace

  • Conducts confidential investigation into employee or management concerns and complaints.

  • Reviews management recommendations for termination and makes recommendation to VP/Director of Human Resources on approval or alternatives.

  • Responsible for the employee exit process including initiating COBRA notification, conducting and analyzing exit interview data and making recommendations based on data collected.

  • Working with the HRIS Specialist, may complete annual, monthly and ad hoc reports and requests for HR related data.  This includes the completion of regulatory reporting requirements.

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for questions and issues surrounding leaves of absence including FMLA, short-term disability, long-term disability, personal leaves.

  • Serves as a point of contact for information on health and welfare benefits and paid time off programs.

  • Assists with Workers Compensation reporting and Unemployment Compensation reporting/hearings as required.

  • Consults with leadership and legal counsel as necessary.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or related field with 5 years of relevant experience or 10+ years of demonstrated Human Resources experience 

  • Success in areas of performance management, employee development, employee relations, wage and salary administration, benefits, staffing and general employment matters.

  • SPHR/PHR/SHRM-SCP/SHRM-CP preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze information and draw conclusions based on information presented

  • Experience working with HCM software.  Use of Workday a plus

  • Ability to present information to large and small groups

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Supervisory responsibility

Provides guidance, and at times, indirect supervision and direction to less senior members of the Human Resources department.  Provides consultation and direction to staff and managers of the organization.
