Determines and implements cost accounting procedures and methods and is responsible for the analysis and quarterly adjustment of cost accounting standards.

Essential Duties and Responsiblities:

  • Performs professional accounting functions involving the application of established accounting standards, principles, and practices. 
  • Examines and reviews unusual cost records and ensures that cost data is allocated correctly. 
  • Examines financial statements for completeness, internal accuracy, and conformity with uniform accounting classifications. 
  • Prepares monthly reporting and analysis of trends, costs, revenues, and general financial data for use by Senior Management.
  • Responsible for maintaining the financial calendar and close process checklists.
  • Responsible to ensure that all accounting processing deadlines are achieved.
  • Performs all aspects of inventory accounting, including both raw materials and multi-layered finished goods.  
  • Reconciles all inventory accounts as necessary to facilitate accounting close processes.  Responsible for all aspects of rental pool inventory management and related accounting, including, but not limited to rental pool depreciation calculation and asset valuation.
  • Assists in inventory adjustments, year-end physical inventory and valuations, year-end audit, and acts as working interface with parent company. 
  • Works with IT department to manage and improve MRP and accounting system performance, and recommends system and or process changes as necessary.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Performs other duties as directed by Management.

Educations and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; in accounting or finance, and five to eight years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Expert knowledge of MS Excel and MS Access or other database management tools.   Systems implementation experience with an MRP system.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with many types of confidential data with discretion and professionalism.

Language Skills:  Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems and make appropriate judgment calls to insure the correct outcome.

Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
