Job purpose

The Manufacturing Systems Specialist is responsible for facilitating product & process changes by updating manufacturing systems (ERP/MES/etc.).

Duties and responsibilities

  • Facilitates the development, sustainment, and continuous improvement of manufacturing and service systems and processes.
  • Supports ERP (Epicor) / MES (Camstar) processes as a “super user”.
  • Supports MES (Camstar) model development.
  • Supports product and process change implementation by evaluating and completing necessary system updates and supporting documentation updates.
  • Supports production pilot runs for process changes and product launches.
  • Supports process validation activities in an ISO-9001/FDA regulated environment.
  • Supports daily action-plan with the Production Supervisor and Manufacturing Engineer to meet KPI goals.
  • Supports the new build and/or service production lines by planning, coordinating and executing actions to drive Operations Excellence based upon the Future State Value Stream Map and the OpEx maturity model.
  • Updates production documentation as directed by Manufacturing Engineering including, but not limited to:  system documentation, process documentation, equipment documentation, process flow charts, standard work sheets and job breakdown sheets.
  • Supports continuous improvement and CAPA activities as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Management.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Requires an Associate degree in Computer Science, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline and two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General understanding of ERP/MES processes and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, systems and tools.
  • Medical device manufacturing and DME experience a plus.

Language Skills:                                                                                                                    

Excellent verbal and written communications skills.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:                                                                                                              

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

Reasoning Ability:                                                                                                                 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems and make appropriate judgment calls to ensure the correct outcome.

Computer Skills:                                                                                                                    

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and have a basic understanding of SQL and XML.

This position is generally performed in a typical office environment that is usually quiet.  Employee is expected to work collaboratively with team members, as well as able to work independently with limited supervision.  Work will require significant computer and telephone work.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
