ZOLL TO DEMONSTRATE NEXT GENERATION PROPAQ WITH ADVANCED DATA COMMUNICATIONS CAPABILITY AT SPECIAL OPERATIONS MEDICAL ASSOCIATION SYMPOSIUM

December 14, 2012—CHELMSFORD, MASS.—ZOLL® Medical Corporation, a manufacturer of resuscitation devices and related software solutions, announced today that it will display the next generation Propaq® at the Special Operations Medical Association (SOMA) symposium in Booth 503 on December 15-17 in Tampa, Fla.

For the first time, through collaborative development with the military and partnerships with a number of telemedicine companies, true integration of data from the point of injury to a definitive care medical facility is available with the latest Propaq model. It is the first integrated device that combines new, clinically superior monitoring parameters for all levels of care with therapy and data solutions designed to meet future mission needs today.

During SOMA, ZOLL will demonstrate Propaq’s advanced communication capabilities by showing how Propaq data will be integrated with data from the Athena GTX® mini Medic® and WVSM®, which are compact portable wireless monitors placed on the patient at the point of injury. Propaq data will also be transmitted via Sierra Nevada Corporation’s Transport Telemedicine (T2) technology that securely transmits accurate and reliable patient vital signs data, in limited bandwidth situations, while assuring noninterference with tactical communications.

“The ability to maintain data with the patient and transmit this information ahead of the patient to provide the longitudinal, situational awareness is integral to meeting the military‘s objective to improve patient outcomes,” said Jonathan A. Rennert, President of ZOLL.

Propaq’s new, unique open architecture design supports emerging telemedicine solutions, military EHR systems, and custom report generation. With a significant reduction in size, weight, and cube, the 8.5-lb Propaq M vital signs monitor is equipped with Masimo® rainbow® SET technology, 12-lead ECG with interpretation, and life threatening arrhythmia (LTA) alarms, Microstream® EtCO2 measurement technology, motion tolerant NIBP, three invasive pressures, two continuous temperatures, and provides 7.5 hours of operation on a single battery.

Propaq MD, offered as a component in the USSCOM TCCC CASEVAC set, includes an optional defibrillator and pacer, thereby eliminating the need to carry a separate monitor and defibrillator. The Propaq MD has been further enhanced with ZOLL’s unique CPR Dashboard™ that can display CPR quality in real time, as well as See-Thru CPR® that can help minimize the duration of pauses during CPR. The Propaq MD provides all the resuscitation capabilities required for today’s Medevac missions, while weighing just 11.6 lbs.

Additional products on display from ZOLL include:

  • The AutoPulse® Non-Invasive Cardiac Support Pump features a load-distributing LifeBand® that squeezes the entire chest to improve blood flow to the heart and lungs, and provides high-quality, uninterrupted CPR chest compressions. SCA victims receive consistent, high-quality chest compressions while clinicians are freed up to perform other critical interventions.
  • RescueNet® ePCR is a powerful and comprehensive electronic patient care reporting solution that simplifies data collection, improves access to information, and enhances operational efficiency.
