NEW RESCUENET LINK REAL-TIME EMS INFORMATION SHARING AND E SERIES WITH CARBON MONOXIDE MEASUREMENT TO BE SHOWCASED BY ZOLL AT EMS TODAY 2010

RescueNet Link First Product to Deliver Incident and Vital Clinical Information in a Single System

March 2, 2010CHELMSFORD, MASS.– ZOLL Medical Corporation (NASDAQ GS: ZOLL), a manufacturer of medical devices and related software solutions, will showcase its new RescueNet® Link* system that provides seamless information sharing between ZOLL’s E Series® defibrillator/monitor, the RescueNet ePCR patient care reporting program, and RescueNet Navigator vehicle mapping, in Booth #3707 at the EMS Today 2010, March 4-6 at the Baltimore Convention Center.

RescueNet Link’s Sense ‘n Sync technology allows all three of the ZOLL systems to automatically upload critical information to a large vehicle display to help rescuers provide the best possible care. The same information can be simultaneously viewed by a hospital’s emergency department in real time, allowing staff to be fully prepared for the patient’s arrival.

“This innovative technology from ZOLL gives pre-hospital emergency response personnel a single point for information, while simultaneously providing hospital staff with the knowledge to triage incoming patients and assign beds and staff before arrival,” said Jonathan A. Rennert, President of ZOLL.  “For the first time hospital patient care and EMS operations come together through a single system that delivers real-time access to incident and vital clinical information.”

Masimo Rainbow SET® Pulse CO-Oximetry™ Now Available in the E Series

Also highlighted in the booth will be the E Series® “Street Smart, Street Tough” professional defibrillator/monitor, which now offers Masimo Rainbow SET® Pulse CO-Oximetry™, a non-invasive blood monitoring platform that measures multiple blood constituents previously requiring invasive procedures, including carboxyhemoglobin (SpCO). This breakthrough measurement helps emergency personnel to non-invasively detect elevated levels of carbon monoxide (CO) in the blood in just seconds—enabling immediate identification and treatment of CO-poisoned patients and rescuers.

The E Series was designed by EMS professionals to meet the specific demands and extreme conditions that professional rescuers face every day. It features ZOLL’s unique See-Thru CPR®, which filters out CPR artifact, allowing rescuers to see organized rhythms without interrupting chest compressions. Like all other ZOLL defibrillators, the E Series provides Real CPR Help®, which improves CPR quality by providing real-time feedback on the rate and depth of chest compressions. The E Series also now offers a new, easy-to-use, wireless 12-lead transmission feature for improved STEMI management.

Also on display will be ZOLL’s broad range of integrated solutions—including solutions for ambulance safety and data management. Product highlights include:

  • The AutoPulse® Non-invasive Cardiac Support Pump improves rescuer safety by providing automated CPR to patients in cardiac arrest during emergency transport to a hospital. When unrestrained and doing manual CPR, rescuers are at a high risk of injury in the back of a moving ambulance. The AutoPulse is an automated, portable device with an easy-to-use, load-distributing LifeBand® that squeezes the entire chest in a truly uninterrupted “hands-free” manner even during extensive movement of the patient to the ambulance (e.g., down stairs). Multiple clinical studies have shown that it improves blood flow to the heart and brain, as well as survival.
  • For data management, ZOLL’s RescueNet software solutions comprise the only fully integrated information management system that has the ability to improve clinical and operational performance by collecting and analyzing data across fire or EMS organizations, including medical device data. RescueNet Code Review allows CPR and other resuscitation data to be easily collected on scene, then analyzed to track skills and patient outcomes to improve future performance through education.
  • AED Pro®/Propaq® LT Combo is a powerful, compact rescue combination for those first on the scene.  A lightweight and compact tool ready for quick deployment, the combo features a rugged AED with advanced features and a vital signs patient monitor from Welch Allyn, for which ZOLL is the exclusive EMS distributor. It's ideal for first on-the-scene rescuers, such as fly-car or supervisor vehicle staff, SWAT and tactical EMS teams, bike medics, search/rescue and air/ground transport personnel.
