RescueNet Link First Product to Deliver Incident and Vital Clinical Information in a Single System

September 28, 2010CHELMSFORD, MASS.–ZOLL Medical Corporation (Nasdaq GS: ZOLL), a manufacturer of medical devices and related software solutions, will showcase RescueNet® Link*, its new system that provides seamless information sharing among the ZOLL E Series® defibrillator/monitor, RescueNet ePCR patient care reporting program, and RescueNet Navigator vehicle mapping in Booth #2417 at the EMS Expo September 29-October 1 at the Dallas Convention Center.

Without any user intervention, RescueNet Link’s Sense and Sync™ technology allows all three systems to automatically upload critical information to a large vehicle display to help rescuers provide the best possible care. The same information can be simultaneously viewed by emergency department staff in real-time, allowing them to be fully prepared for the patient’s arrival.  This browser-based system also allows the information to be viewed from virtually any device with Internet access.

“This innovative technology expands ZOLL’s EMS product portfolio to give emergency response personnel a single point for information, and hospital staff the knowledge to triage incoming patients and assign facilities, beds and staff before arrival,” said Jonathan A. Rennert, President of ZOLL.  “For the first time, a single system delivers fingertip access to incident and vital clinical information simultaneously to both EMS operations and hospital patient care.”

The ZOLL’s E Series monitor/defibrillator is being displayed with Masimo rainbow® SET technology for breakthrough noninvasive and continuous measurements of carboxyhemoglobin (SpCO®) that helps clinicians to immediately diagnose, monitor, and treat patients poisoned by carbon monoxide.

Designed by EMS professionals to meet the specific demands and extreme conditions that professional rescuers face every day, the E Series features unique See-Thru CPR®, which filters out CPR artifact, allowing rescuers to see organized rhythms without interrupting chest compressions. Like all other ZOLL defibrillators, the E Series provides Real CPR Help®, which improves CPR quality by providing real-time feedback on the rate and depth of chest compressions. The E Series also offers a new, easy-to-use wireless 12-lead transmission feature for improved STEMI management.

Experience ZOLL’s Integrated Solutions at EMS Expo

Also on display will be ZOLL’s broad range of integrated solutions, including solutions for data management and ambulance safety. Product highlights include:

  • ZOLL’s RescueNet Data Management Suite for EMS and Fire
The software suite comprises the only fully integrated information management system that has the ability to improve clinical and operational performance by collecting and analyzing data across EMS or Fire organizations, including medical device data. RescueNet Code Review allows CPR and other resuscitation data to be easily collected on scene, then analyzed to track skills and patient outcomes to improve future performance through education.

RescueNet solutions also include computer-aided dispatch, billing, field data collection, crew scheduling, records management, and mobile data software for the Fire and EMS markets.  RescueNet reduces duplication of processes, simplifies data sharing, and increases efficiency and data accuracy. The suite of solutions also helps improve patient care, enhances quality of service, and maximizes profitability.
  • ZOLL’s AutoPulse® Non-invasive Cardiac Support Pump
The AutoPulse is the only automated chest compression device that uses an easy-to-use, load-distributing LifeBand® to squeeze the entire chest in a truly uninterrupted “hands-free” manner even during extensive movement of the patient to the ambulance (e.g., down stairs). As a result, victims receive more consistent, high-quality compressions than those delivered by other automated CPR devices, which means improved blood flow.

The AutoPulse improves rescuer safety by providing automated CPR to patients in cardiac arrest during emergency transport to a hospital. When unrestrained and doing manual CPR, rescuers are at a high risk of injury in the back of a moving ambulance. Using the AutoPulse mitigates these risks and frees up rescuers to perform other life-saving interventions.
  • PocketCPR®, the only standalone device that assists rescuers in the delivery of high-quality CPR
Using ZOLL’s Real CPR Help® to deliver real-time feedback, the palm-sized PocketCPR coaches rescuers to the correct depth and rate of compressions with audio and visual prompts.  PocketCPR® for iPhone** is a training app designed to educate users in the vital skills of CPR.  The app will prepare both professionals and lay rescuers to perform high quality chest compressions by allowing practice of proper depth and rate using the iPhone's accelerometer. PocketCPR is available through iTunes or on the App Store ($3.99).

  • An Ambulance Safety Lunch & Learn: Thursday, Sept. 30, 11:00 am – 12:15 pm is planned.
Michael Kurz, M.D., Associate Professor of Emergency at Medicine, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Operational Medical Director for Henrico County, Virginia, will discuss the acceleration forces rescuers encounter transporting patients, specifically those experiencing cardiac arrest.  He will describe the impact those forces have on rescuers’ ability to maintain balance and deliver effective CPR, and examine methods to mitigate the associated risks.  The session is approved for 1.5 CEUs.  When you register, your $5 donation will go to “The Mended Little Hearts of Central Virginia.” To register, go to
