October 6, 2009 - Clinical Resuscitation Products Showcased at ENA MEDIA CONTACT: Diane EganZOLL Medical Corporation+1 (978) email@example.com R SERIES CODE-READY DEFIBRILLATORS NOW WITH ETCO2 AND NIBP, AUTOPULSE, LIFEVEST, AND STEMI SOLUTIONS TO BE SHOWCASED BY ZOLL AT ENA IN BALTIMORE October 6, 2009—CHELMSFORD, Mass.—ZOLL Medical Corporation (Nasdaq GS: ZOLL), a manufacturer of resuscitation devices and related software solutions, today announced that it will display its broad range of clinical resuscitation products—including the R Series® Code-Ready® defibrillators, the AutoPulse® Non-invasive Cardiac Support Pump, the LifeVest® Wearable Defibrillator, and STEMI solutions—in Booth #622 at the ENA Scientific Assembly October 8-10 at Baltimore Convention Center. ZOLL’s R Series Code-Ready Defibrillators, the original ALS and the newer R Series Plus, now offer mainstream capnography (EtCO2) and non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP) options. These additional monitoring parameters assist rescuers before, during, and after a cardiac arrest The R Series is designed to extend “Simple, Smart, Ready” defibrillation to every hospital department with advanced, cost-effective solutions for resuscitation. The R Series BLS is an easy-to-use AED that becomes a manual defibrillator with the press of a button. The R Series ALS is the most advanced ALS defibrillator available with networking capabilities and See-Thru CPR®. The R Series Plus, which has both AED and ALS capabilities, also has networking capabilities and See-Thru CPR®. Like all other ZOLL defibrillators, these models provide the Real CPR Help® feature. All R Series defibrillators use the same uniform operating system common to all ZOLL defibrillators. The cables, paddles, batteries, handles, and electrodes are also common to ensure clinicians won’t encounter a mismatch in a time of crisis. In addition, all R Series models can use wireless networking to ensure code-readiness. Based on standard WiFi technology, the R Series automatically sends a status of its state of readiness at a programmed time. Early notification maximizes patient safety by letting the clinician intervene before the defibrillator is needed for a code. The AutoPulse is an automated, portable device for temporary circulation support when the heart is no longer effectively circulating blood due to ventricular fibrillation or cardiac standstill. It features an easy-to-use, load-distributing LifeBand® that squeezes the entire chest, improving blood flow to the heart and brain during sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). The AutoPulse may offer a significant advantage over manual CPR, moving blood more consistently than human providers. The device delivers high-quality, uninterrupted chest compressions to maintain myocardial and cerebral perfusion. Additionally, it offers the benefit of freeing up clinicians to focus on other life-saving interventions. Over 4,200 AutoPulse devices are in use in hospital and emergency service organizations worldwide. ENA attendees will also be able to view the LifeVest®Wearable Defibrillator, which is worn by patients at risk of SCA, allowing their physicians time to assess their long-term arrhythmic risk and make appropriate plans. The LifeVest does not require bystander intervention and has a 98 percent first treatment shock success rate for resuscitating patients from SCA. To date, the LifeVest has been prescribed for over 19,000 patients. Also on display will be the Company’s range of STEMI solutions that enable hospitals to rapidly transmit data from the field into the cath lab to assist clinicians in meeting ACC/AHA standards for door-to-balloon times. ZOLL Product Tour All attendees are invited to take the ZOLL Product Tour. Those visiting a minimum of five stations to hear a brief demo of product features receive an Emergency Nurses’ Pocket Guide. CPR Challenge ENA attendees can also participate in the ZOLL CPR Challenge using an AED Pro®. A PocketCPR®, a cell-phone sized CPR coaching device with real-time feedback, will be awarded hourly to the scorer with the highest percentage of in-target compressions (i.e., best rate and depth of chest compressions) that would be effective in helping maintain blood flow to the brain and heart of a cardiac arrest victim.
