CALIFORNIA AUTOPULSE REGISTRY ENDPOINTS SUCCESSFULLY ACHIEVED

July 13, 2009CHELMSFORD, Mass.—ZOLL Medical Corporation (Nasdaq GS: ZOLL), a manufacturer of resuscitation devices and related software solutions, announced today that it has completed all data collection associated with the California AutoPulse® Quality Assurance Registry, which it established in early 2007 in cooperation with the State of California Emergency Medical Services Authority, and that all endpoints established for the Registry were successfully met.

The California AutoPulse Quality Assurance Registry was established to undertake data collection related to the rate of emergency department admissions and adverse events associated with CPR provided by the AutoPulse Non-invasive Cardiac Support Pump in conjunction with the introduction of the new mechanical CPR device in California. More than 1,300 patients were enrolled in the Registry between April 2007 and June 2009 by 32 agencies using the AutoPulse to provide mechanical CPR support in California.

Data collected in the California AutoPulse Registry for the AutoPulse, and its clinical implications, has been submitted for presentation at this year’s American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Science Symposium, which will be held in conjunction with the Scientific Sessions 2009 of the AHA meeting in Orlando November 14-18.

Patient registries are an important clinical tool that establishes an organized system using observational study methods to collect clinical data to evaluate specific outcomes to serve one or more predetermined specific clinical or policy purposes.
