March 25, 2009 - ZOLL Displays EMS Resuscitation Solutions at EMS Today 2009 MEDIA CONTACT: Diane EganZOLL Medical Corporation+1 (978) email@example.com RUGGED DEFIBRLLATORS THAT IMPROVE CPR QUALITY, SOLUTIONS FOR AMBULANCE SAFETY, AND DATA MANAGEMENT TO BE SHOWCASED BY ZOLL AT 2009 EMS TODAY March 19, 2009—CHELMSFORD, Mass.—ZOLL Medical Corporation (NASDAQ GS: ZOLL), a manufacturer of resuscitation devices and related software solutions, will display its broad range of integrated resuscitation solutions—including the rugged E Series® professional defibrillator, the AutoPulse®Non-invasive Cardiac Support Pump, and the RescueNet®suite of data management solutions—in Booth #722 at the EMS Today 2009 March 28-29th at the Baltimore Convention Center. “ZOLL’s entire EMS product portfolio is designed to help professionals meet the 2005 American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines, including performing high-quality CPR and capturing data to assist with future CPR training and performance improvement, said Jonathan A. Rennert, President of ZOLL. The unmatched ruggedness of the ZOLL’s “Street Smart, Street Tough” E Series will be visually demonstrated by having a fully-equipped ambulance parked on top of some actual clinical units. The E Series was designed by EMS professionals to meet the specific demands and extreme conditions that professional rescuers face every day. In addition, ZOLL’s unique See-Thru CPR® filters out CPR artifact, allowing rescuers to see organized rhythms without interrupting chest compressions. Like all other ZOLL defibrillators, the E Series provides Real CPR Help® which improves CPR quality by providing real-time feedback on the rate and depth of chest compressions. The E Series also now offers a new, easy-to-use, wireless 12-lead transmission feature, which just received 510(k) clearance. ZOLL will also be previewing Shock Conversion Estimator (SCE), a remarkable new 510(k)-cleared innovation that advises rescuers of the likelihood of defibrillation shock success. Based on thresholds and protocols set by medical direction, a rescuer may decide to continue CPR in response to a rhythm that might typically be defibrillated until the rhythm becomes more “shockable,” thus increasing the ultimate likelihood of success. Ambulance safety will also be highlighted in the booth. The AutoPulse helps keep rescuers safer by allowing them to be strapped in the back of a moving ambulance, while it provides consistent, uninterrupted compressions that cannot by done by manual CPR. It is an automated, portable device with an easy-to-use, load-distributing LifeBand® that squeezes the entire chest in an uninterrupted “hands-free” manner, improving blood flow to the heart and brain during cardiac arrest. It also supports patients by providing better coronary perfusion pressures during resuscitation and CPR, nearly equal to normal circulation. Additionally, it offers the benefit of freeing up rescuers to focus on other life-saving interventions. For data management, ZOLL’s RescueNet software solutions comprise the only fully integrated information management system that has the ability to improve clinical and operational performance by collecting and analyzing data across fire or EMS organizations, including medical device data. RescueNet Code Review allows CPR and other resuscitation data to be easily collected on scene, then analyzed to track skills and patient outcomes to improve future performance through education. RescueNet solutions also include computer-aided dispatch, billing, field data collection, crew scheduling, records management, and mobile data software for the fire and EMS market. RescueNet reduces duplication of processes, simplifies data sharing, and increases efficiency and data accuracy. The suite of solutions also helps improve patient care, enhances quality of service, and maximizes profitability. Making its debut in the ZOLL booth will be the Propaq® LT monitor from Welch Allyn, for which ZOLL has been named the exclusive EMS distributor. This lightweight, highly portable and flexible monitor displays multiple lead ECG, SPO2, and non-invasive blood pressure. It will be showcased with the ZOLL AED Pro® that provides both semi-automatic and manual defibrillation capabilities, and incorporates See-Thru CPR and Real CPR Help to provide real-time feedback on CPR quality.
