ZOLL Medical Announces Receipt of Canadian License

Wednesday, April 04, 2001 – Burlington, MA, April 20, 2001 - ZOLL Medical Corporation (Nasdaq: ZOLL), a manufacturer of non-invasive cardiac resuscitation devices, which provide pacing, and defibrillation, today announced that it had received a license from Health Canada for the M-Series platform of defibrillators/pacemakers/monitors. This license encompasses all current configurations of the M-Series, including ZOLL’s unique rectilinear Biphasic waveform, and accessories. Included in this license are additional diagnostic/monitoring parameters such as SpO2 , EtCO2, NIBP and 12 Lead ECG.

Richard A. Packer, President and Chief Executive Officer of ZOLL, noted, “We are pleased to have our Canadian license. We can now proceed forward with plans to increase our business in Canada. Our direct sales team combined with the superiority of our M-Series should allow us to continue to increase our market share in Canada.”

ZOLL Medical Corporation designs, manufactures and markets an integrated line of proprietary non-invasive resuscitation devices and disposable electrodes. Used by health care professionals to provide both types of cardiac resuscitation – pacing and defibrillation – these products are essential in the emergency treatment of cardiac arrest victims both inside and outside the hospital. ZOLL also designs and markets software, which automates collection and management of both clinical and non-clinical data for emergency medical service providers.
